What matters to me matters to Him and that changes my life. Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in His name to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided to advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Him. This is what He wanted to do and it gave Him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to Him as His dear children. He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with His blood and forgave our sins. He has showered His kindness on us, along with all the wisdom and understanding. He sure gave all that to you, Officer Cook and because of your stellar record and sacrifice you were willing to undertake on our behalf, He has readily accepted your beloved soul to His glorious kingdom for safekeeping. The love of the Father is like a sudden rain shower that will pour forth when you least expect it, catching you up into wonder and praise. God is sending us all the blessings of good fortune that He placed on your table, Officer Cook. He bestowed greatness on you and your loving family and this has allowed them to carry on after your tragic passing. They have been true to their faith, as you were to God. The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For His unfailing love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has renewed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. God's hand guided your pathway in life Officer Cook and it was the same as God delivered you to His throne up in heaven to be by His side. You and your fellow angels have the best seat in the house so to speak as you now are entrusted in helping God watch over your comrades in this world who do battle on the streets everyday. The courage you all displayed can't be duplicated by anyone else. It's kind of like a secret formula, the X Factor. We read of your stories and realize every moment there are real life true heroes some forgotten because of the many decades that goes by before we can reflect on their life and what it meant for them to become a police officer. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero, as we reflect back on the rich life of Officer William C. Cook and what you meant to the Dade county community and to North Miami beach where you grew up.

Regardless of the weather conditions, you were determined and always ready to go out in the streets to serve, Officer Cook. Without the concrete and specific involvements of daily life we cannot come to know the loving presence of Him who holds us in the palm of His hand.....Therefore, we are called each day to present to our Lord the whole of our lives. I can count my blessings, Officer Cook, that I had the good fortune to have met some of your family members. I would love to have met your beloved mother, Mrs. Julia Cook, as she is now out in San Diego, California and hopefully is doing well. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. It was a blessing to have read of your life in the book, "Forgotten heroes." Though I knew most of the story of what took place on May 16, 1979. I'll not forget you! The feeling of never had the opportunity to meet you still leaves a sad taste in my heart today as it will everyday. I do visit your grave from time to time.

Officer Cook, you believed with full faith and confidence that God would take away any bad situations that might befall you. God will find us, bless us, even when we feel most alone, unsure...God will find a way to let us know that He is with us in this place, whenever we are.
