The mightiest of warriors. The humblest of servants. You were the loving , humble and loyal ambassador to all Dade County, Officer Cook. And it is now residing in your family, comrades and friends the honesty, integrity and dignity of which they must carry on with your mission. May 16, 1979 was a very sad and tragic day in all the nation. Badge #1664 was worn humanely by a truly beloved hero whose legacy was front and center with all those you served and protected with inspiration and reverence. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The grass is always greener on the other side. Where you now live forever, Officer Cook, keep shining your cherished and very special soul so we can glean its light of hope and peace. It is very much needed.

From entertainment venues to courthouses, it seems these days and past several months that violence finds its entrance. Just why? We relax and attempt to go on with our daily routines and businesses, but that enemy lurks. The people behind this insanity obviously have problems, tormented, demented, whatever, one day peace shall rise above the ruins. Wanton evil will be eliminated. Something you, Officer Cook and the many other brave souls ascribed to accomplish. All completed through honor, true and through, dignity and integrity that at times one must expose themselves to these perils. You'll be saluted and honored for your supremely heroic effort, Officer Cook. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A legacy of faith, hope and goodwill that spread unity and peace around Dade County and its residents resides with your eternal soul, now charged with observing our brave men and women protecting and serving as you so faithfully did. Ambushing officers solves not one thing. It just perpetuates what police professionals stand for. Pride. Excellence. Commitment.

Back in your day, Officer Cook, computers and other modern technology were not around. Now we have them and for some police officers who stray from the paths of honor and dignity, perhaps if we did not have them to be used prudently some of these men and women would not fall prey to what one can google from them. Officers who have troubles, betray their badges and uniforms surely need to be off the streets. For it lies in the humbleness of heroes such as yourself who exposed themselves to the dangers each and everyday. You were a remarkable.man, more courageous than most.
