Complacency must never be free to cruise around any venues that are served and protected by brave and humble men and women. To do so would be compared danger just setting itself loose on a society that wants, needs and demands peace and liberty for all its residents. Nothing but honor, decorum and decency from your cherished being, Officer Cook. You patrolled the corridors of Dade County with the right dignity and integrity, the constitution of outstanding character, bravery and the fairness of commitment to pride and excellence which all public servants must function under. Remembered and saluted by all your family and colleagues. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Officer Cook, as a man of precise morals and the fabrics by which all officers must govern themselves accordingly, you can be assured that Dade County and its fine folks will fondly honor and salute your keen wisdom and bravery. The finer points of fierceness that battled terror and its wickedness. Your responses to evil and your pursuits in life in becoming an excellent man of class and character all constituted the reasons as to why you were a hero of nobleness and the humbleness to seek peace and to channel your passions into making unity a valuable tool presently. You have been greatly missed by your family and esteemed comrades who now take on and attempt to tackle such an overwhelming enemy. Central Division has never been the same since you gave your life and career to further enhance our world. The world is not as safe and sound when any officer loses their life to violence or whatever happens to them. Still way too many accidental deaths many of them preventable. You performed in an outstanding way not just on May 16, 1979, but on all days, afternoons and evenings. The words I meant to use were that I did not know that Karen was not a nurse. Whatever you aspired to become Karen, you did it as compassionately as your heroic husband, Officer William Coleman Cook. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Where you are buried in the St. Patrick's II Section and in other areas of Dade Memorial Park there are heroes of humane engagement who made our lives more safer and serene. Dignity, honesty and integrity were the instruments by which you both lived and honored your department when called to assist a colleague or civilian.

Care and concern, class and loyalty, cherished and treasured forever. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Sorrow is sorrow. Joy is joy. There can be no happiness until all evil, wickedness and heinousness is totally eliminated from our infrastructure. This is the message that must be pounded on and taken to a newer level of vigilance. Your courtesy, Officer Cook, when coupled with your honesty, bravery and dignity made it more difficult for evil to keep its presence among us and those residing in Dade County and its surrounding venues where you served mightily and very heroically. Your love for life, your zest for happiness took you on journeys most of us would ever dare venture to. For it was your willingness to pursue violence while trying to calm down those whose emotions boiled over. That fateful day of May 16, 1979, character, humility and courage from your giving heart at least helped you to try and calm down a most troubled young man. Badge#1664 stood face to face and with the most integrity and valor you tried. Fruition is tough for most of us. Police officers as public servants must not succumb to failure. Futility is not nobility. Accountability, reliability and assess are what is most needed. Now fruition and fulfillment may finally be realized. You were a hero, a savior and our warrior, never taking anything for granted. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your commitment and pride have been those two cornerstones that have been laid down for future officers of bravery and honor to witness. The revelations are too great to ignore. You won't ever be forgotten, Officer Cook. There will always be sadness and torment over your tragic passing. God has you and the many other angelic heroes of humanity and humility eternally shielded from anymore harm. You paid the ultimate price on behalf of Dade County and its residents to see what real peace and unity actually look like when displayed together. They make living. And life can be too short to let opportunities of accomplishment slip through our hands.
