All class, all candor, all charm and one sensational smile, a happy man with a good home environment. You did an outstanding job uplifting and maintaining justice, truth and trust, a much needed element for Dade County and its folks to survive. Everything was done and completed as a humble hero, a man full of life, a beating heart of bravery and boldness, no conceit. Just why did things have to end so miserably and so terribly for you, Officer Cook? You were still young with many journeys and missions still awaiting your wisdom, virtue and vision placed daily in harm's way to shield and to ward off evil. When people of conviction, commitment and character are tragically taken from their loved ones, then prayer and grief may offer a humble spec of consulation. Your family was and is strong, Officer Cook, always fondly remembering the happier times of a life lived with hope, accentuated with purpose and persevered with passion. You were so passionate, dedicated and loyal it just should not ended the way it did. Your department will pay homage to you forever and salute the pride and effort you inserted in our very lives of peace and security. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Society suffers when humanity is shaken. It cannot be that way as stability and tranquility must rest together at the doorsteps where unity, freedom and liberty shall live. To survive means thriving and unfortunately too many have fallen. Dade County was under your direction a place you calledhome, grew up and got married to a wonderful woman in Karen, Officer Cook. I can see the smile, the pride, your passion coming from a uniform and badge that pursued everything in peace. A young man gifted and girded in humbleness, blessings and the richness of embracing the challenges and tasks associated with your job that you chose of your own free will. Integrity, dignity and honor were instilled within your being and goodwill, faith and hope will implanted at our very posts. No one has forgotten you, Officer Cook, heroism lasts forever and may you again rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

The sidewalks are hot and the desire and devotion must stay heated up. You can't take your foot off the accelerators of acumen, astuteness and awareness for one second. For all to live your life, Officer Cook, as with all who serve, protect and carry a badge, they must possess the integral decency, devotion and thoughtfulness to survive the rigors and duress of a position, a profession that expects and demands nothing but dignity, character and the right ideals to function day after day. Six years of giving Dade County excellence and effort did not go down without a fight, never a better heart and soul that remain cradled by Our Protector Himself who keeps you safe and secure for eternity. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. We pray for truth and trust never to leave this land. Evil must be wiped out if happiness, peace and prosperity are to share each other's company. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Ambushes are perilous situations that forever place public servants in the lines of fire and violence. I was driving home from a catholic community where I visit with the jewish residents, Officer Cook and just cannot stop thinking of you. Officer DiGenova's twin brother, Kenneth who you probably knew lives on NW 135th street and NW 6th ave less than a mile from the two cemeteries, Mt. Sinai, the jewish one and Dade North Memorial Park where you rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Yesterday,in California two officers were killed at a motel answering a domestic incident just as you did the day your career and life ended because of an angry and deeply hateful man. Suffice it to say your dedication and performance was outstanding as was your unwavering and unselfish dignity, honesty and integrity they were the principle ingredients to a successful life and sadly all too short of a career serving the citizens of Dade County delivering peace and stability all through your virtue, valor and versatility that was represented in your true character, commitment and convictions trustworthy and concise. Evil is the torch of terror that once ignited all the endeavors are essential to put out the fires of its ferocity.

Obey and listen to police directives they will save your life and someone else as well. If only Mr. Pearsall heeded your wise words that day, Officer Cook, we might not be reflecting on your solemn career and indeed a life of caring, sincerity, heart and the reverent character of a most blessed angel whose integrity, dignity and loyalty made its way around here more than a quick trip. Virtue and valor go where concern and caring belong. Foundations and cornerstones for a safer future you just should have been allowed to live on. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Dade County pays homage to men and women who lay down their lives making an impression that fortifies humanity.

You can never be forgotten for giving your life andby showing your truest of intentions that stopped a wild man from doing more harm to your blessed community. Hostility dashes humility's hopes and dreams, you'll remain cherished and humbly admired. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Where humbleness, loyalty and its blessings traveled so did your career and life bound together by virtue, versatility and wisdom safe and secure. Maturity that unlocked and unwrapped many doorways throughout a short life yet one with memories to forever treasure. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A special servant garnished in gallantry and always accountable for whatever you accomplished and fulfilled before God came calling. Pride that was passionate and scruples that made your legacy more than just polished. To persevere and demonstrate relentlessness takes a special human being. The handkerchiefs were wiping away many a tear shed for your sweet and special heart and heroically inclined soul of vision, virtue and wisdom, Officer Cook that Saturday of May 19, 1979 at the cathedral, Dade County and your family had to mourn your loss that shook the nests of your never ending and relentless trails of trust, truth and tenacity. Your colleagues who shared the good times and the most arduous of situations were left numbed and stunned by how your life of decency, dignity and fertile integrity all came to a tragic and sudden end. There was more left on the horizon to accomplish where did things go so terrible? A young man engrained in the process who embraced mankind with a humane smile and all the tools, gifts and skillsof a veteran professional. For them serenity, safety and security the price you paid, the character, intuition and commitments of pride and excellence were sacrificed to bind us together inunity and in strength. Blocks of boldness and paths of righteousness were emblazened with your cherished and upstanding name blessed and heroically rewarded. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
