Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook
You were a fine student, Officer Cook, who was able to translate his skills of intuition and leadership to other colleagues for thoughtful inspiration. The bonds of Dade County and its citizens were in the able and honorable hands of a man who was able to take consideration and blend it in with integrity and dignity, all the result of excellent character, courage and the unwavering commitment to witness peace and reason reign down on everyone. You founded the very cornerstones of respect, resolve and relief for all mankind. Never overlooked nor forgotten. The wise know their actions will bring humble success. The wicked thrive on tormenting and terrorizing, their personas must be headed off a the pass. A crusader and a gifted public servant, you remain admired and greatly missed, Officer Cook. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You gave your life and career, one of sagely advice, ingenuity and the maturity way beyond your twenty-five years of living. You were taught at home by your loving and devoted parents and naturally brought this greatest lesson to those streets where you patrolled and pursued evil. Your happiness was in proudly and nobly wearing your uniform and badge, Officer Cook. 1664 answered the calls and on May 16, 1979 and forevermore were you inscribed for generations to come and for all to see your blessed name along with other heroes and heroines of humility and the bravery to act accordingly. To say Dade County is a hotbed of activity would be a gross understatement. You made civility and sanctity among us all stand up and take notice. Cherished and treasured as the efficient and mindful man of courtesy and character.

I drive around North Miami Beach, Florida where you grew up, Officer Cook and noticed your parents' home and the grass in the backyard quite high. Your brother-in-law Cecil Tidwell must have cut it or had somebody take care of it. Do hope your mother, Mrs. Julia Cook, is doing well out in California. Would like to meet Mr. Tidwell. You were his courageous and most heroic brother-in-law. No doubt about leadership, proficiency or the passion by which you served and guarded the residents and brokered peace and inspiration for all mankind. The eyes and ears of those humane and dignified have their humility and integrity right squarely where it will have the greatest affect. Only the gentleman of character, morals and desire out there shielding us from wickedness. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. I know if you were here, Officer Cook, you would have taken charge of keeping your parents' home looking great. Now in heaven God keeps His home and valiant heroes and heroines in perfect harmony where no harm will ever come your way. A great man of tranquility and the tenacity that trailed behind your compassionate ferocity.

Lawyers and police defends us. Lawyers don't put on badges and uniforms. Their schooling allows them the right to litigate on our behalf. Police through rigorous training and classroom study go about serving and cleaning up the streets where evil and torment leave a bad odor. Its scent hinders the good graces of the wise and devout who must tackle peril rightfully and faithfully. In Dade County, you were among the wonderfully intelligent and insightful public servants whose integrity, dignity and honor were placed on the line for all to witness. Biting off more than one can chew can have a devastating effort on our stomachs. Police must engross themselves in every matter that has a pertinence on life. Never can they throw in the towel or wave that proverbial white flag. They need to stand up and be faithful, loyal and dignified as you were, Officer Cook, with Dade County and its devoted people. You throw concern in with the morals of good character, quality of commitment and the conduits of sound convictions and you have that element of peace and security that will stay anchored down for all time. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Endearing and engaging is the right way to at least help to bring prosperity to its home for gentle care.

Rather, it is one based on a kindred spirit of love and passion performed honestly and with a renewed sense of integrity and dignity steering those who strive for excellence. You delivered high quality perseverance and preservation around Dade County and its citizens, Officer Cook. Ideals and their intelligent appeal stayed within your heart and in your spirit, your beloved and wonderful soul that watches over us as one of God's many angelic heroes of boldness.
