Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

A person's physical being returns to the dust of the earth from where it came. A soul of a beautiful and sensitive gentleman who was honest, brave and of wonderful integrity, we can hope, though we know it is where your father is, Officer Cook, he is resting in peace my neighbor, friend and hero alongside of his darling son. Dade County was the central location where your integrity and values travelled constantly in search of goodwill, hope and the prosperity that peace offers mankind. You gave your heart and mind of vision and wisdom, the leadership to take command of other comrade battling this raging foe. Evil and violence repeat their ruinations around our world and you, Officer Cook, with your resourcefulness were there to attend and further delay its progression. You did all you could and one day those members of your loving family will meet up and reunite with you. God's very special hero and angelic public servant. You saw justice and its prospects and utilized all your tools of tenacity to conquer its nasty affects.

Secure and supported, you stabilized all Dade County with your humble and serene sense of honor and integrity, Officer Cook. You lived a life and passionately pursued a career in law enforcement with dignity, devotion and decorum that was determined and dedicated to the causes of justice and peace. Unity can only grow and multiply if the sum of the parts are fairly dispersed. The more humility and faith one has in their endeavors, the more successful he or she will be. The outcome as we all wanted it to be on May 16, 1979, was for Mr. Pearsall to surrender without demonstrating violence towards you and your colleagues, Officer Cook. And for his girlfriend and those civilians involved in that bitter domestic dispute what a shame. Evil is never any means to resolve any circumstance and for your valor you deserve hearty salutes for creating an atmosphere of calm. At least you gave your full character, conviction and that word boldness toward humanity. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Intelligence and fortitude are some of the important characteristics by which you, Officer Cook and your comrades maintained peace and liberty for those living in Dade County. Your armor of integrity, dignity and the composure necessary to ward off wickedness shall not be forgotten. God's eyes and ears saw your missions and their journeys to their fruitful completion and for having the essential model character and morals has God taken your treasured soul back to heaven to guard His pearly gates of gallantry where many brave heroes and heroines are patrolling and walking that proverbial beat. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

I meant to say for justice never injustice, I by accident ran the two words together. Gallantry, guts and glory, police as all public servants must have and share together the responsibilities of fighting off evil and violence as one department, not going off and acting as one. Honorable and dignified intentions are the keys to successful resolutions. Here in Dade County, Officer Cook, it was your humble and humane esteem coupled with outstanding reverence and integrity for your professional position. Comrades have saluted your vigilance, wisdom and upstanding character with commitment and courage above and beyond. Peace at times comes with price, a life and a career bound for more achievements. God recognized greatness, yours, Officer Cook and took your journeys to a higher sphere where eternity was waiting with open arms to welcome you to those angelic heroes and heroines serving to protect God's golden and sacred streets. The pathways of perseverance you feverishly toiled for are now where no more harm will ever come your way again. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You had more humility than most of us walking around and thinking what's next? Ingenuity. Intellect. Intuition inspired your navigation of happiness in our continuations of life and what we choose to become. It's a tragedy you could not be here to witness all, though your soul observes our going and coming.

Police are not supposed to stray nor run from evil. Citizens participate in the peace process as they too can be the eyes and ears of justice done fairly.
