A man who prays from the heart will succeed mightily because of his faithfulness and fighting resolve. God witnesses the effort in His eyes. Our Creator saw open versatility and unending humility when you solemnly served and protected Dade County citizens, Officer Cook. Humbleness seizes our most interior thoughts and allows us the opportunity to make peace and liberty through those channels of unity. When dignity and integrity are roadrunners, the trails of honesty cannot be far behind. Your commitment, character and ethics, Officer Cook, have been saluted as has your gallantry and grace by which you performed your job. Danger and peril leave a trail of terror and turmoil that must be eliminated if we are to live prosperously and happily. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You were a wonderful son, brother, husband and uncle, a great-uncle, the terrible tragedy is that you never lived to see these children growing up and being productive and positive citizens furthering your heroic legacy. Sharing is akin to caring. One's own soul must be free of those obstacles which would impinge upon our rights to live in peace and unity. Police officers face judgement each time they bravely and honorably go out and patrol for perseverance and the resolutions that are needed for a society to carry on its dreams and aspirations. Dade County and its residents were your flock, Officer Cook and as their inspirational and determined leader, it was up you and your acumen and astuteness to bring home relief and never ending justice. Responsible and resourceful, the humble words in any officer's vocabulary when tested against a foe such as evil. And Dade County could not be in any better hands than those of Officer William C. Cook, Badge#1664, who stood there in the face of gunfire and saved citizens and his comrades from this troubled young man bent on violence. Domestic issues, bank robberies, whatever the dilemma you were as valiant as they come. Dignity, integrity and honesty shall never be uprooted in this fight over wickedness. The vulnerable in the hands of the virtuous, the dignified and those brave souls of integrity saving lives, that is what being a public servant is all about. The calm before the storm always seems to put folks on edge. Where you grew up, Officer Cook, here in North Miami Beach, Florida we are awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Irma. One nasty lady churning about in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. You toiled and patrolled around the exteriors and interiors of Dade County for six years of unselfish sacrifice and for security to take shape. The citizens here have not forgotten your intense integrity, character, honesty and dignity. They all led to excellence in humane and in humble work. You served God with all your passion and inner strength right from your golden and caring heart. Always well liked and a life well lived. There was more left to pursue. We forgive and forget. Though, we must not forget nor lose track of a tenacious warrior in you, Officer Cook. Rebelling against the establishment certainly cannot help in this fight against violence that threatens to derail our peace process. Dade County and its citizens were in the hands of a loyal and trusted servant, yourself, Officer Cook, the beacon of honor, truth and the integrity to dignify all your pursuits in life and during your police career. A career that saw enhancement stationed where it ought to be and character mounted right straight ahead in your patrol car. A vehicle for vigilance and versatility. Friends are needed for both joy and sorrow. They sure are. In a time of crisis and grief those wounds are deep and dark. Just having someone to listen to as you pour out your heart says a lot. You listened to the residents whom you loyally served, Officer Cook and Dade County was the recipient of your fruitful accomplishments. No doubt your honesty, bravery and courage left a mark so humane and humble, you'll never be out of sight or mind. Saluted for noble and heroic actions that saved lives not only on May 16, 1979, but everyday of your six years of duty. The people were treated respectfully and your vigilance surrounded them with hope, wisdom and the vision to size matters up rather well. Character, class and consideration along with proper ethics will do that to a person inbred with ideals, values and a charming persona. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. It was a sad day when you left this world and your family behind, Officer Cook. God has your endearing soul wrapped safely in His arms for nothing but eternal love and admiration.
