But, every officer must bear this in mind and that they must concentrate on keeping their humility and honor assembled on their badges of boldness and on their uniforms. Having the dignity and integrity to exert the proper authority over an given circumstance. Being a hero in Dade County, you venues were many and filled with danger, Officer Cook and therefore your cautious approaches were deemed righ ton. A man of character and courage combining the good acumen and sense to bring us peace and unity though it came at an ultimate price. Your heroic sacrifice shall be revered and saluted forever. Passing quietly is better than a life of pain and suffering. Going before one's time and missions are completed is just plain cruel and unfair. God placed us here on Earth to succeed and to accomplish our life pursuits to make this a safer and better world in which to prosper. Your whole life, Officer Cook, was predicated on the fundamentals of fairness, conviction, character, honesty and humility and the channels of courage, wisdom, dignity and all that integrity affords us. Burdens don't go to heaven. Only the bravest and most boldest of public servants. They stamp out wildfires, wickedness and wanton evil which constantly threatens our very society and its taciturn movements for those pursuing happiness. You went right after violence, Officer Cook, stared it down and acquitted yourself ever so faithfully. It was Dade County who revered and respected your authority and acumen not just on May 16, 1979, it was every moment your character and desire to succeed in arranging serenity and safety for all came humbly calling. A presence and passion absolutely missed greatly today and everyday since your untimely loss. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You never boasted, Officer Cook, bragged or did anything out of character. Attacks come swiftly and without warning nor provocation. We must be prepared as all police officers must be. Dade County, Broward County, Palm Beach County wherever crime is happening it must be curtailed as soon as possible. When honesty, integrity and dignity are in the crosshairs of callous and wicked individuals, it must be silenced. Peace and freedom rely upon the good graces of many heroes and heroines brave and humble to handle the rigors of a physically and emotionally challenging and draining responsibility. All done very well, Officer Cook. You kept things as normal and as calm as needed. All your passions went into your missions and their destinies of devotion, desire and top flight dedication and determination. It made you a humbly consummate leader of other women and men, Officer Cook, who too desired for a better quality of life for us the citizens. Always fondly remembered for fierce and unyielding ferocity and unselfish heroism. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Imagine you drop your child off at a bus stop and worry all day if they are safe and sound. Well, Officer Cook, that's exactly what you meant to the people of Dade County as their messenger of goodwill, faith and unity. Harmony, peace and tranquility are essential to one's character, courage and commitments to fight through this mass of hysteria. Your morals, dignity, honesty and integrity pinpointed precisely what your family and esteemed colleagues understood of your life and public service career, Officer Cook, highlighted by service, diligence and preservation never to be forgotten. Heroically and humbly saluted for humanely displaying humility on your badge of boldness and a uniform your proudly wore and brought fairness to everything you accomplished. Police work is not meant to be routine nor taken lightly. It can be cunning and confusing figuring out how to get out of peril. You calculated, Officer Cook, you trained, planned and prepared for a battle royal maintaining safety and harmony for all Dade County. What can be stated is you were a humble and faithful servant who gave his heart and soul for our dreams, yours too to move forward. The tragedy of losing you never left your family and comrades. Time passes us by before we can even do a thing about it. Well at least in your twenty-five all too short years of life, Officer Cook, you were a sincerely decent and honorable gentleman. You were a crusader on a mission of searching out evil and seeking peace as its permanent replacement. For those of us fortunate to live in Dade County at that time, it was great and so was your dignity, reverence and simply put humane and humble integrity. Not everything can be solved and resolved, but, at least your effort and quality of character and conviction went into the making of a stellar public servant who was loyal and cherished and remains a hero forever in our midst. Heaven received the richness of your warmth, smile and generosity while you dealt with a foe so fierce and yet you were unwavering and unselfish in your sacrifice.
