Friendship is that wonderfully loving bond between us and the rest of society. Having an ice cream or glass of soda and looking back on life and the hope that surely springs eternal. A fury of ferocity fuels the fires of our most beloved and honest of public servants. They try to accomplish peace and unity through a feverish channel of courage, integrity and dignity. Their desires to fend off violence on our behalf make them the humble and humane heroes and heroines to be forever cherished. Your exploits, Officer Cook, here in Dade County preserved the lives of one and all and if not for your humility, vision and wisdom than no telling what might have transpired even more on May 16, 1979. A telling moment when tenacity, character and commitment bordered those gates of gallantry. Now and for always will we salute your intuition, intellect and the ingenuity by which you faithfully battled. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Finality means closure, at least to some it means exactly that. Your ferocity and feverish work habits, Officer Cook, made you a better person and a more savvy public servant. Where Dade County needed your gentle touches it received more than your fine and upstanding character, commitment to pride and excellence and the right scopes of integrity, honesty and the desire that dignity implants in a loyal and faithful hero of grace and nobility. You can be sure your ledger has stayed open, Officer Cook, for us to get a glimpse of what a real man does when turmoil faces him. Our Lord directs His brush and took your patrols to spots that had to have serenity and sanctity replace the bedlam and wickedness. Never forgotten and always treasured for reliability and relevance, rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

If disaster ever triumphs over tranquility then you can forget about putting women and men of honor, humbleness and humanity in harm's way. Imagine you are on a meal break eating with a fellow law enforcement brother or sister and someone bent on evil shoots you. For all the training and preparation, only God knows when their destinies and missions of hope and faith are deemed as finished. Your life dealing with serving Dade County and its citizens brought you joy, Officer Cook, you fulfilled your fruitful assignments and because you were stoic, reverent and brave, that humane integrity, vision and wisdom has been taken to a higher calling where no further harm will ever come your way. Saluted for gallantry and common sense, our harmony and stability has been restored all by your unwavering heroic actions. Grieved by a loved one's loss, all we can say is, Officer Cook, you were one fine and gallant young man. Dade County and its citizens were most fortunate to have you protect and serve them because of your unwavering honesty, dignity and integrity that must be stationed at all corners to curtail terror. Our peace and stability came about through your humble kindness and the compassion you had in character and in spirit to stand in there battling corruption. All we can state is that Mr. Pearsall, the troubled young man who took your life and nearly those of your fellow officers had no character, his commitments were scrambled, a totally mixed up person bent on violence against the establishment that at times scurries to secure liberty, tranquility and harmony for everyone. Anchors and cornerstones have been laid by your sacrifice, Officer Cook, a devout and faithful servant of God with confidence and the courage to travel to where peace was needed the most. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
