There are no frills only the chills that violence's sounds make. Gunfire can erupt and destroy the peace and harmony we all come to expect. Our lives and our travels should be allowed to go on safely and soundly. For most of your career protecting Dade County they did, Officer Cook and for what transpired on May 16, 1979, to you, nothing can take away nor tarnish a badge and uniform worn professionally and proudly. Your mother, Mrs. Julia Cook, if you are still here, your darling heroic son, Bill, had all the acumen and resolve that honor, integrity and dignity bring to its warriors of humanity. You chose police work for a reason, Officer Cook, your soul of security knew from a young age where your missions and journeys of decency and dedication lied. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Destiny comes calling, your motivation and mental approach, Officer Cook, was fine tuned to your community's needs and they all saluted humility and nobility delivered smartly and quite wisely. Your foundations brought cornerstones for a brighter tomorrow. A tomorrow less joyful because of your absense from your family. They carry on with your spirit observing the going and comings. You were a happy man with a big smile who relished and loved life. In North Miami Beach, Florida you were also called Billy, to me it will always be Officer William C. Cook, Badge#1664. What a gentleman endearing and treasured forevermore.
