Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

Getting chickens into the coop is a bit easier than getting corruption and callousness off of the pavements. You tried, Officer Cook and for a relatively short career you succeeded where others might have failed. Failure is not permissible because when public servants have honor and integrity tied to integrity and wisdom then it makes those out there doing evil to rethink their steps. You paths were sacred, your trails were the truth and Dade County along with your loved one suffered and grieved over you my neighbor, friend and hero. The torch is lit. You see clearly, you had wise that was permeating and accentuated. With Dade County been preserved by a man with class and decency it was hard to go wrong. But unfortunately that awful day your family, department and the entire police nation suffered a terrible loss. A public servant so true and trustworthy sacrificing your life and poignant career for our lives to move onward. A shame integrity, honor and unwavering dignity were usurped by a senseless man with no remorse whatsoever. Officer Cook, heroism will forever live on a your family humbly carries the torch of your legacy, valued and loyal to every fellow officer who hasn't forgotten you. Too many accidents. Tragedies that can be prevented. Fallen trees, horses rearing up, electrocutions whatever police are losing their lives and now with Covid-19 you have to realize what our world is going through and suffering beyond belief. You were dignified, honest with a first class reputation for sincerity and being thoughtful, Officer Cook. A man who was honest and decent, a gentleman with a sterling and stellar work ethic. Dade County had the best along with your two brave colleagues that fateful day, Officers DiGenova, Edgerton and your partner, Reserve Officer Lincoln. The four of you had your hands full that day with a man bent on anger, heinousness and no respect for authority. We cannot surmise what you all were contemplating. If he just gave up the ending would have been better for Karen and the entire Cook Family. A man with desire, dedication and determination battling his behind off to keep this human being from harming others. Badge#1664 was about class, politeness and scruples. Driving home today from Naples, Florida and was thinking of you, Officer Cook and your friend and comrade, Officer Keith DiGenova who now resides in Ormand Beach, Florida in Volusia County. I wish I could drive up there to play some tennis with him and dedicate a set on your behalf seeing that you both played in your younger days. Such respect, trust and truthful heart and soul demonstrating their heroic characteristics of dignity and integrity which protected Dade County to the utmost. You will forever be remembered and saluted for inspiring wisdom, valid virtue and the clearest of vision that saw to our futures, days made better if only your family could embrace your smiling handsome face.
