Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

Put your pride aside and don't hide during those tense moments. It's when violence and terror can seize the day and what may follow next no one wants to know. You dealt with most every situation that came across your scopes of protection, Officer Cook, for sure the people of Dade County were well served by a loyal man of faith, honor and the integrity that spells out dignity and character setting its nets of resolve and humility around a community that continues to salute your validation of high morals and the genuine esteem of your professional comrades. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Put your mouth on the line and simply speak the truth and earn some trust from those whom you serve and protect. A gentleman so treasured by his family and peers, you were the consummate colleague, Officer Cook. Ingenuity and congeniality were your primary makeup along with honesty an dhumility the forbearers of dignity and integrity. You kept peace and safety where it belonged and just so sad five minutes of intense violence from gunfire took you, Officer Cook, from this society. Its ailments could have been helpe dalong by your clever and cunning character and the commitments to pride and excellence worn gracefully on your badge and uniform of understanding. You tackled your assignments with clarity and the tenacity all public servants must carry on patrol. These streets demand an extra concentrated effort, you gave yours, Officer Cook, quietness and resolve showed up at those doors of desire and devotion. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. You rest your soul, Officer Cook, on Our Lord's most comfortable of pillars and He will take your hands from one domain to the other.

A laugh can last a while. A smile too can cheer up those downtrodden individuals. Those bent on crime no telling their dispositions and when something will snap inside of them. For Mr. Pearsall, the man who took you from your family, peers and friends, Officer Cook, his problems began long before he deserted the Army. He needed a total teardown and reconstruction of his values, ideals, principles and morals. A little dignity, integrity and honor humbly speaking go a long way in shaping a person's gallantry and resolve. It did for you, Officer Cook, Dade County's hero of respect, character and the sheer energy you needed to battle wickedness. You were upbeat and sincere and always unwavering and unselfish in your endeavors of bravery and fruition. Missions undertaken with fairness, firmness and justice for all. Never overlooked and saluted for nobility, civility and in restoring sanctity for mankind. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. We encourage foundations being laid for all future men and women of law enforcement. They have one mission, to eradicate evil and promote peace and unity for their neighborhoods seeking shelter from bad and wanting serenity to grace their lives.

Relevance lends its clues to credence, just as much as honesty does to good character. It is a challenge for some public servants to stay frank, open and dignified. For the majority they can peruse the streets of their communities in search of peace and unity knowing full well their efforts will pan out. Your endeavors, Officer Cook, on Dade County's hope and well being brought newer springs of serenity and safety to those folks crying out for help. No better class, decency and the will to accomplish than yours. You have been well received in God's enchanted forests where tenacity and humility have built the backbone of those heroes and heroines so humane and humble. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A very sad and tough week this week has been, Officer Cook, may your soul of vision and wisdom pray for me. Tonight I observe the thirty-eighth year since my dad passed, Thursday he passed in English back in 1980 and on Friday the 27th we buried him. It is soon coming up on your anniversary, you'll never be forgotten by me.
