Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook
As I look back at so many pictures of fallen officers, it's always why were they taken? Some way too young, other older grizzled veterans, they all had the genes of gallantry, humility and honor whenever they went out seeking peace just as you so humbly did on behalf of Dade County's residents. Officer Cook. It won't bring you back to your beloved family and esteemed comrades, but, you were a man of character, charm and personality. I had heard you could make a room fall over in laughter and yet you embraced life and loved being a police officer as dangerous a job as there is. Peril and turmoil strikes fear in my heart as well as most people's hearts. Your concern for safety and security was the best and always done smartly, with vision and proper instincts. Only courteous and kind, loyal and unselfish. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. There is more than a flicker of light coming from your wonderful soul forever in God's bluest of skies.

Dialogue is certainly better than deviousness. Destruction that can doom our world. One must be devoted and honest, focused on the nuances of dignity and integrity, most of all remain honest and centered on the extreme tasks at hand. yes, they can be challenging at times but you were a focused and cherished comrade, Officer Cook to your department. Dade County and its fine citizens won't forget your gracious and brave service to them. One that helped to avert an even bigger tragedy than what already unfolded that day of May 16, 1979. Good character and staunch commitment that when coupled with morals tends to have the direction in this never ending and constant reminder of what wickedness and terror can unleash on a community that you vigorously provided serenity and good blessings for. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Police cannot just gloss over things. Their spheres of serenity and peace must be accompanied by humane and humble honesty, dignity and integrity which can make or break any given circumstance. You patrolled Dade County real well, Officer Cook and there was no mistaking your humility, gallantry and loyal service to us. Today, we have been able to live more happier and tranquil lives because of your unselfish and treasured protection. The kind of outstanding character that transmits its signals to all duly and faithful public servants. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Our Lord has your solemn badge and boldness firmly entrenched in His eternal doorways where no further harm will come your way. Your sacrifice has meant everything to your family and colleagues. Never to be forgotten and sincerely saluted.

Suspicion underscores the benefits of doubt leaving us handcuffed and with seemingly no where left to go. At least those who act professionally know their deeds and heroism will someday travel to a higher authority and it will be Our Creator who will dish out rewards and punishments to the righteous and wicked. We have no doubt, Officer Cook, that you were a superior man of integrity and character, the honest soul of security and safe travels who toiled and sweated out those difficult moments here in Dade County serving out of love and respect. Now thirty-nine years later it has all been paid forward as you have been labeled a humble and loyal hero. No better way than to salute your fortitude and courage from within your heart of caring and compassion. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The houses that Our Lord has designed are solely for His heroes and heroines whose valor and humility must rest and recline within those sacred walls of honor and esteem.

Capturing culprits who commit terror and violence is never an easy or sure thing. For as clever as they think they are, public servants must act more cleverly and try to stay ten steps ahead. Hard to accomplish and particularly in Dade County a large spread out venue. But, you did your part of protecting and preserving life and property, Officer Cook. A gallant and graceful man of devout faith, total integrity, honor and dignity which of course allowed you the ample opportunity to chase down evil, seeking peace for us and the transmissions of tenacity whenever you patrolled. Heaven has a most uniquely humble and solid citizen walking that proverbial beat where you character has been instrumental in observing those brave souls who have taken the baton and of course your family and professional comrades of loyalty and devotion. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

You paid the price for Dade County's safety and security, Officer Cook. You, were a humble man and an even more engaging gentleman with a gentle spirit. Now the wings of boldness and heroism that God has attached to your honorable limbs help you sail high each moment. If only dignity, character and integrity could have saved your beautiful soul and prevented a calamity that took you away from your family, friends and peers who also protected our serenity and civility. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Our Master's comforts provide the relief from anymore harm to our most bravest and humane of servants. The world is less by your absence, Officer Cook, only the finest care and touches of tenacity did you deliver to us.

The Rock of Gibraltar is a famous landmark. Dade County is a somewhat famous territory when it comes to show business people living and performing down in the Sunshine state of sunny Florida. It's also a breeding ground for violent times and racial tensions. Those episodes of domestic strife reared their ugly heads on May 16, 1979 and you were there, Officer Cook, to stop a young man angry at establishment and who knows what else. Only your good vision, character and honesty tried its best to stop an already sad afternoon in Liberty City in Miami. Personally, your commitment to pride did its best job of enhancing our futures, yours, Officer Cook, was a beacon of light so bright your reflections of humility and bravery shone through. Never forgotten and always praised by your colleagues, rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Convincing character and ideals can have a positive affect on ridding evil and replacing it with tranquility and safety for sure.

Where deception and conceit lie in our communities, you'll never find anything but love and grand admiration for our humble and humane heroes and heroines who rest their hearts and souls of serenity in Our Lord's giant lap. It's their boldness, character and dignity that gives honor, integrity and wisdom that pick me up so to speak. You lifted up the spirits of all Dade County with your unconditional vision and valor validated by your energy and compassion for your job, Officer Cook. A treasured servant among loyal, faithful and blessed individuals who got the point on how to make quiet and sanctity work and function as one. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Police work is not a show of force to see who is most powerful and gets better results. Better yet, to be honorable and dignified, have integrity and remain poised during incidents where violence is most likely to happen. You stayed true to your humble word and assurances of boldness while making the commitment to excellence and pride, Officer Cook. A real dose of humility combined with stellar character and resolve saved Dade County's residents and further accentuated their peace and unity by a deserved savior. God has the best of bravery and courage sheltered in His honor roll of distinction and gallant effort. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Never can a police officer have a hidden agenda. Their acumen, awareness and unselfish astuteness must cross those frontlines as one. You were quietly confident, Officer Cook, in your abilities to reign in terror and to restore peace and credibility to an area calling for change. Dade County had some superior peacemakers and your serene candor and charisma brought back good relationships between all persons. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. We deem desire, dignity and dedication as some of the cornerstones of what true courage, character and honor mean to those strong of heart that engage danger no matter the cost. Dignity by day and night, boldness, honesty and courage at every moment. What valor, Officer Cook, you displayed not only on May 16, 1979, but all other days when duty called for your benevolent humility. Nobility, civility and the sanctity of it all steering evil away from the streets of Dade County. Just a crying tragedy your young life of character, class and vision, Officer Cook, came to a sudden halt. There was definitely more left on your plate of prudence to achieve. A warrior by night and day, a true humbler hero in the evening and for that matter at all moments. Crisis causes that button of bravery to be pressed when our most sufficient go into action mode. You demonstrated true humility when dilemmas struck and promptly delivered the goods of peace and prosperity that counted the most. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Oh how your family, professional peers would give anything to have you back among us, Officer Cook. A stellar man of modesty, principle and the virtues of good character and resourceful vigilance. it made Dade County and its people stand up and take note. A notice of hope and optimism went out when you ventured into those sometimes harmful intersections of fate and ignamy. One never really knows the meaning of success until you travel down those roads of humble resolve and those paths of concreted courage. You did an outstanding job, Officer Cook, your possessions of proficiency, your maintenance of integrity and dignity while fighting toe to toe and face to face confronting corruption and kayos. Never more humane and heroically honorable humility burning brightly upon your badge of boldness and uniform of undaunting responsibility. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Pancakes and hamburgers get flipped, violence gets kicked in the rear end and put where it truly belongs. No truer and finer a man of gumption than you, Officer Cook. Oh how you would dote on your great-nieces and great-nephew, Officer Cook. I remember three of them, your niece, Mrs. Gina Wilkerson's children and her husband, Trevor. I heard a few years ago she had another baby named Legacy. Correct me if I am wrong Gina. Hope your kids and spouse are fine and doing well. Your uncle "Bo", Officer Cook, represented a monumental man of gallantry and the good graces of a superior public servant who served and raised the levels of expectations for Dade County folks. His countenance of courage and commitment shined brighter than a big old sun. Honesty, dignity, integrity and the mantras of fire and ferocity feeding humanity's hunger for peace and stability. All the humble reasons why you are to be so saluted, Officer Cook, for a job excellently crafted and performed under the pressures of peril and danger. A fine man and a gentleman gifted with God's saving grace. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your memory lives on in your family's heart and the fortitude by which they travel down those pathways of happiness and security for all.

We place a premium on friendships. We devalue the acts of bravery which in turn can brighten our darkest of days. The minutes and hours frittering away. No take to take a break and runaway from duty that calls for answers. You never shied away from taking over the streets of evil, Officer Cook and accentuating them with plain old liberty and serenity for all mankind. When character ever comes into doubt or it is questioned, well that never occurred with you my friend and neighbor. Only concerned, courteous and filled with fruitful missions where faith and hope combined to tear away the layers of hatred and mayhem. Humbly saluted for wise and visionary actions of heroic proportions, rest in peace.

We feast on violence and when the time comes in making amends we shy away. Do not know why? But we do. bravery, boldness and alacrity all belong on the same pages as do honor, ingenuity and conviction which goes a long way in deciding any outcome. Sometimes being outnumbered is not always good, there are times believe it or not successful results can occur. All any officer worth their weight can put their best foot forward as you did, Officer Cook, on Dade County's request and that satisfied us the citizens in recognizing our peace and bountiful unity. Nothing easily passed on down. You never took your roles of resolve and values for granted, Officer Cook, you provided excellent service at all the ultimate cost and for this we'll not forget our hero who broke down the links of distortion. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Roses are red and and violence can leave its black and blue mark upon our dignified society. One that still ails from the sicknesses that senseless mayhem leaves. So its departure from our midst had better take place real soon. You took your best swings at evil, Officer Cook and for the most part you brought back civility to a sacred place. You had the class of character and the wheels of wisdom to counteract the shifts where violence would come. Thankfully your vision, integrity and dignity was well dispersed. Never more hope, never more tranquility and never more humane and undying heroism to be revered forever. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

To pontificate is just to speak and to get better results humble and steadfast action is required when wickedness knocks at our door. When you navigated around the various venues of Dade County, Officer Cook, you had a motus of attack and violence listened, at least most of the time. Troubling and of course very tragic the events of May 16, 1979, that took your life of liberty and substance, Officer Cook. A career thought out and well executed, just gosh golly sad, honor, dignity and your wise integrity being snuffed out with more left on the horizons of humility. Our friend humanity observes and reflects back on your character and charisma, Officer Cook, one created more superbly than most. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Engaging and gallant, a savior and true reliably trusted public servant.

Intolerance causes much indigestion as much as dishonor and lack of morals causes consternation among the ranks. Those living in Dade County during your watch, Officer Cook, have solemnly remembered your gallant and humble manners of patrolling for unity and peace. Getting dirty and dusty are signs of laboring for peace. A torn uniform is still better than a bullet and that is our society at times, too many public servants dying in the line of duty from gunfire's revolting violence. It rings loud and sadly. You gave your life, Officer Cook, for Dade County's emancipation and for their enhancements to proceed onward. You were a man of action and character, the classic gentleman of heroism and humility whose life was ended by a wicked young man. No better dignity, wisdom and integrity than yours, Officer Cook. Our peace, freedom and unity all by your unselfish and loyal actions of May 16, 1979, never to be forgotten. History has a way of rewriting the future courses of mankind. Yours my neighbor, friend and hero rest in peace in God's friendliest of skies where other angelic heroes and heroines of bravery and commitment lie forever patrolling those golden and sacred streets where no harm will ever befall you again. I truly wish your partner that day could have done more to protect you, I understand Reserve Officer Scott Lincoln was under siege too and under fire not knowing what might have happened to him as well as your colleagues who too were shot and nearly killed.

Eccentric is one thing. Simplicity is another. And it is found in those humble, humane and heroic brave souls of serenity where fairness meets firmness and justice and truth are the partners married to one another that matter the most. Your inspirations, Officer Cook, mattered, your honesty and wisdom, they too mattered, your vision and perceptions, they too mattered. Dade County, its reform and tranquility they mattered. Everything you could have fulfilled in your yearning to become a public servant was reached except for the life you lived and personified should not have been violated and robbed of your wonderful soul. When terror and wickedness stand near each other, even our most bravest and boldest of men and women have trouble reaching out to reign it in. Your best was outstanding in saving your comrades and those civilians caught in a web of disaster, you'll be eternally saluted for carving out niches of morals and the courtesies you afforded our community. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
