Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook
Love and respect never die, they lie together in God's celestial portraits where heroes and heroines take up eternally humble residence for having braved adversity and turmoil. You were a truly loyal and dedicated soul, Officer Cook, bravery, courage and valor only begin to tell your humane story. You were born in California and came to Florida at one year old. And as you grew and became older you had your heart set on being a police officer. A very noble and distinguished profession where one must be composed and honorable, venerable and virulent, diligent and determined to root out violence and its insatiable appetite to ruin life and property. Integrity and vision, principles and character afforded you that chance, Officer Cook, to promote change in our lives where solace, comfort and peace should take up their rightful spots. Never forgotten and always our hero and your family's. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Your flight patterns, Officer Cook, are precisely all around the world and of course proudly over Dade County where your sanctity and humility did their actions preserving peace, calm and a unifying measure of success. All the correct dignity , devotion, faith and goodwill positioning themselves where their affects will be most anticipated. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. We can gaze at the stars tonight and see your spirit hovering overhead, Officer Cook, the champion of a uniquely cherished warrior. A torch passed down to other brave souls to pickup where your missions were left behind to fulfill.

We move through life sometimes not knowing what we are doing. Police officers cannot meander through those mazes of mayhem blindsided by the very enemy they take an affirmation to protect people against, evil. Just plain rotten, low down cowardness exhibited by a few callous and heinous individuals. Your task in Dade County, Officer Cook, accepted willingly and freely without force was to keep us safe and serene. You did your job with humility, honor and the humbleness of having dignity and integrity on your uniform and badge of bravery and boldness. And no matter your heroism shall be fondly and nobly remembered forevermore. A character of a man whose heart and gallantry were always pinpoint and in the right places. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Inspiration serves as the integrity behind the scenes of a surreal hero. You were the quintessential young man, Officer Cook, gallant and humble enough to chase down terror here in Dade County where you lived, grew up and attended the various public schools. Your literacy and communication skills were all A+. Never a doubt as to whether you would accomplish or not. The makeup of any public servants depends upon many factors: courage, boldness, ingenuity, intelligence and most of all resiliency and resolve, how much fight is in your soul of humility. Yours, Officer Cook, contained the means as to why exactly humanity is exceedingly grateful of your heroism. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Cajoling and courteous, your politeness and common sense, Officer Cook, allowed you the freedom to create goodwill, faith and hope among all Dade County residents. Our harmony, peace and tranquility can be directed traced to your unwavering and undying tenacity to see your destinies through. Our Lord came and on May 16, 1979, sadly He called your loyalty and treasured brave soul back home to be with your dad, Charles, may he too rest in peace. It took every ounce of your unselfish character, conviction and commitment to both pride and excellence to get the job done right the first time and heroes like yourself, Officer Cook, are never forgotten and rarely omitted for deserved salutes of honor. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

God's chalkboard is clean and so all His angelic heroes and heroines can start on their most difficult of assignments by guarding those pearly gates where bravery and grace have forever begun filtering in. Your primary role, Officer Cook, was to keep sanity in check and to keep your cool during the tense situations where evil would look to start something. And only your boldness and morals when paired together with honor, dignity and integrity made peace and good cheer a reality. Saluted for humility back to humanity. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Oh, the spirits of youth and what a remarkable young man you were, Officer Cook, so devout and loyal, always worrying about your mother, Mrs. Julia Cook. What a son you have Mrs. Cook. You and Mr. Charles Cook, he too should rest in peace raised a gentleman of pride and the discipline the results of a terrific upbringing full of courtesies and courage. At your Inspector's Funeral, Officer Cook, Dade County and the entire nation paid their respects to your yearning, wisdom and the fibers of ferocity, humility and what integrity and dignity mean during your wars waged against wickedness. Never forget a supreme hero and warrior who leveled peace and goodwill against our walls and doorsteps where we live and breathe freely because you came to the rescue of your comrades and the civilians. Stand tall, take heart. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Nancy, you too can stand humble remembering your darling heroic younger brother.

When a good servant is hurt or God forbid killed while doing their job, this could be akin to being stabbed in the back and having your heart ripped out of your body. Your death, Officer Cook, came by the wanton and tragic heinous actions calculated by a troubled young man. Dade County and its residents were in capable hands though we mourn your loss and character. Honesty, dignity and integrity were staples of your valiant law career where you enforced and enhanced the security and safe passages of everyone. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Your measure of peace and liberty allowed the good citizens of Dade County to thrive and to prosper in taciturn times. Our Creator has welcomed the embrace of your character, humility and the honor that dignity brings to integrity. Heroism has served and protected mankind like no other. Trust. truth. Justice. Equality. Four symbols of trying to reign in terror that must be part of a more complex solution to fighting crime. You saved Dade County, Officer Cook and many lives were spared on the Wednesday afternoon of May 16,1979. No doubt your unwavering concern, care, consideration and courage all factored into your decision to answer that vitally important call. God steered your honor, integrity and dignity right to NW 77th Court and NW 12th Avenue. Unfortunately, Mr. Pearsall's brain was not attuned to complying with you and your fellow comrades. The sad part of two lives, yours, Officer Cook and his. Your family's can only be wondering why? And God has those answers and the questions stored in His eternal home for safekeeping. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero of humility given in a dedicated way back to all humanity. A hero of and for the people of Dade County who tried his best to restore peace, reason and the pangs of unity.

But then you were a superlative public servant so effervescent and full of resolve. When solving a dilemma in Dade County needed an answer, it was yes and gung ho, all ahead full. Still humility and the never ending humble nature of your persona, Officer Cook, that helped and directed your pathways in life. God will never let your compass spin chaotically out of kilter. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The vacuum of veracity sweeps through and with it hopefully violence too may be sucked in. Its uncontrollable at times and even the bravest and most honest have a degree of difficulty getting their arms around its claws of confusion and bewilderment. You performed well at all times, Officer Cook, Dade County had no reservations of your fine character, composure and the morals of dignity and integrity. They produce fine results when paired with the likes of authority and humility. If we keep these in mind it will give us the answer as to why peace, safety and security are a living virtue. Your soul of courage, Officer Swings back and forth in heaven's biggest of pendulums. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Classy, decent and quite personable. What a smile that has been sorely missed all these years by your family members.

Destiny dispatches events we don't always want to know. Information is sometimes more valuable when it is shared among others than kept alone. God put your soul of valor in Dade County, Officer Cook, to keep watch over its flock of folks who deserved a little peace and wanted tranquil moments. A gentleman full of honorable character, loyal and professional commitment, dignified convictions and the wise grip of vision to see into our futures. One made brighter by your missions where mercy and healing have somehow come together all these years later. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Sorry, you could not be here to see your journeys and the enhancements that have come about by your undying will to thrive.

The fullest of means is using everything at your disposal to vanquish evil and to refurbish peace. To restore calm and reason, to proclaim the unification of all people from all races, backgrounds and affiliations. Racial unrest can surely test the mettle of any brave and persistent men and women of honor, integrity and wisdom. No doubt even having crystal clear vision and the alacrity may not be enough to overcome evil's affect. You experienced some turbulence when you patrolled, Officer Cook, your fine and outstanding acumen indeed assisted you greatly, the bells of boldness and bravery struck that very same chord. That fateful day of May 16, 1979, you and your comrades, Officer Cook, had no idea the scope of your watch would be impeded by the terror of a troubled young man. You performed in a superb manner and fashioned yourself with composure even while under fire. A hero forever, a warrior welcomed into God's palace of perseverance and a savior sleeping gracefully in Our master's gigantic palms of mercy and goodwill. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Justice is served one case at a time. One moment to get things squared away properly because if for some unknown reason a mistake occurs, it could set off a destructive chain of calamity no one needs. All any public servant worth their mettle can do is their job and take care of the public and their peace where in Dade County, Officer Cook, you summoned the valor, honesty and integrity to carry out your heroic duties with integrity and character. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend, and hero. Guard your health and pursue peace and freedom, let unity reign down on humanity.

Confident without being abrasive, sensitive without being soft. A life of lessons well learned and a career carved out of conviction, commitment and the courage of your young heart, Officer Cook, to fight for what was right for Dade County citizens. Talent and skill are one thing. Honor and dignity are another. Having a whim is nice, having gumption and grit to stand face to face in a heated moment of danger is totally another. Your service and reverence, Officer Cook, are the stuff that make heroes and heroines who they really are. You were grounded on principles and the finer virtues of having morals, the aptitude to handle corruption and other problems. Your family, loved ones and police colleagues will forever honor and salute your humility and noble deeds of sanctity which help to replant serenity and faith within the mainstreams of mankind. What is taught stays taught. What we learn if properly absorbed stays in our brains. How we are instructed that all depends upon our mood swings. Our mindsets are such, some need more reviewing, while others can retain information given to them. Evil and violence make our very brave and honorable stay , pause and take special notice. No matter who you are you must have a mission and to be able to focus without any hindrance, not always an easy thing to accomplish. You set your mind to succeed, Officer Cook, the ability, the dignity and vision along with integrity and ingenuity made you a humbly self-confident servant who gave peace and unity a chance to branch out in a community that always has respected and saluted your fortitude. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Police don't push pencils. They try mightily to take crime and its ugliness away from our midst. Freedom and liberty are a better couple than ignorance and indifference. There is too much bias, bigotry, prejudice and racism to deal with than ever before. They spread the wildfires of destruction faster than we can get a handle on them.
