Time honors humility and so too where bravery dares to go. It pursues evil and where honesty, integrity and dignity thrive so too must decency and resolve follow along. You pursued happiness, Officer Cook and by becoming a police officer with the Metro-Dade Police Department were your goals, dreams and aspirations fulfilled. Violence sometimes becomes this insurmountable problem that not even the most skilled and highly trained of professionals is able to get a handle on. On May 16, 1979, humanity and Dade County residents were served by a loyal and cherished friend full of character, values and gallantry you cannot even begin to mention. A humble hero forever remembered and etched into our thoughts and hearts for saving your colleagues and those for whom you took a solemn affirmation to protect their serenity and peace. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Faithful until the end and never forgotten. We salute your bravery and the stamina for assisting those who needed help.

Words are pointless unless they are accompanied by meaningful and humble actions. Your work, Officer Cook, on our behalf and of Dade County's as a whole was top notch and first class in every way, shape and form. Honor, dignity and wisdom all accounted for. Integrity, conviction and character never absent. We received the total package of tenacity and the awareness that public servants must place into their burdens and responsibilities. Never more courage, charisma and effort championing the causes of peace and harmony. Evil must be warded off at all costs and your unwavering and undying endeavor will forever be so etched and honored as your heroic legacy. Morals, values, ideals and scruples were a part of your breeding and whatever you learned from your loving folks stayed within your heart and soul, Officer Cook, a uniform and badge donned wisely and most properly. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Your smile and sincerity, Officer Cook, has been truly missed all these decades later. No doubt you were a happy and content young man who relished serving and protecting the public. Police work humbles one's soul of care and concern beyond any words. Just true compassion and understanding for what you needed to do for Dade County and its citizens to live serenely quiet lives. Calm down those needing a little pacifying. Expose yourself to the perils that violence brings upon a society where resolve and scruples carry out their assignments when a focus on honor and decorum are present. May 16, 1979 was a terribly sad day for not only your family, professional peers and friends, it was devastating for the entire world and police nation, bonded together with brothers and sisters alike bravely fighting to defend our tranquility and your performance, Officer Cook, was truly admired, respected and very heroic. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Scoundrels and fiends don't care so long as their brazen actions keep coming. So long as Dade County and their people had you, Officer Cook, your resolve, faith and character, things would be okay. A hero through and true just as your honor, wisdom and maturity all belonging to your prideful upbringing. No matter, peace and harmony were well paved while you patrolled and your dignity and desire drove all your missions on mankind's behalf. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Killing a police officer because he tells you to cut your lawn and to gun him down by shooting him in the back six times. The stories, the scenarios, the situations and circumstances all have something so sensitive in common. They involve life and honor, dignity and integrity, vision and the wisdom that public service delivers to those whom are protected and watched over. You looked after Dade County, Officer Cook, a cerebral and warm gentleman who cared passionately for the people you promised peace and liberty. You delivered on your bond, boldness and intelligence articulated and humility conversed in volumes as you gave your life for peace to become a mainstream of our world. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A smile goes a long way and so true of morals and character, composing oneself while on duty.

Victims are the innocent ones who lose their lives by wanton and heinous evil. Spread far and wide there is no telling the consequences that this may bring. You tried your utmost, Officer Cook, here in Dade County to free people from the grips of violence and in doing so were one brave and gallant soul. Having the backbone of boldness and the character of courage only enhanced your flights of ferocity within our midst. Integrity and dignity partner better with each other when honesty answers that beckon call. Help others to help themselves is what any person worth a dime can do for their fellow citizen. But, you went over and beyond the scope of your official duties, Officer Cook, broadening Dade County's horizon which was much more hopeful and surely sunnier during your watch. Our peace and prosperity was no ambiguity, no anomaly, just plain humility and honesty, its integrity and dignity resting on your badge and uniform of honor and boldness, its clarity that simply put allowed the chance to serve, search and save lives. It's putting the ritz back into the waltz. Humanity is deeply indebted to you, Officer Cook, your decency, desire and character making up your life and career with more left to achieve if not for evil and its callousness which took you from your family, comrades in arms who fought alongside of you and the so many friends who knew Bill Cook as a warrior and committed hero of his time. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Maybe your family, Officer Cook, goes on this website and reads these and other reflections for you. These low life animals, worse than an animal commit these atrocious crimes against law enforcement personnel, they shoot them assault them stab them, it just makes me sick that there is no honesty among criminals, no dignity for morals and the enhancement of our safety and welfare. No matter, you were a decent human being, Officer Cook, a, man of means and integrity which in turn drove your patrols in and around the corridors of Dade County. At your wake, your visitation at the old Bennett and Ulm Chapel on NW 7th Avenue and NW 152nd Street, the only reporter, I'm sure there were others, I remembered Steve Dawson was there from WCKT Channel 7 which was an NBC station, seeing you, Officer Cook, laying in your flag draped casket with an honor guard at each end, incredible how much time has since passed. Nothing in the way of character, commitment and vision stands in wisdom and ingenuity's paths. You were a source of delight and joy for your family, your loving parents, your sister, Nancy and your beloved wife, Karen, your widow who has since remarried. We keep honoring your humility and esteem, your diligence to duty and the fact of you giving up your life for the tones of tenacity and serenity to set in. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. I only wish met you and your sister, mother and father and Karen. Though, I did speak to Karen months ago. Had to be as fine a lady as you were a class gentleman and hero to all mankind.

As Americans living in the freest country in the world, we still cannot take things for granted. Violence at some point must be terminated and stopped before it ravages what remains of good and respectful folks. For your part, Officer Cook, you sought remedies for calming those who tempers flared. As respected and as dignified as you always were you maintained common sense along with your dignity and honesty never leaving you. God brought you home to welcome other brave and heroic angels of care to watch over His venues. Your now sacred and eternal role calls for your character and vigilance more than any of us know. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Dates are important sources in looking back on a person's life and cherishing the good times. The bad times seem to creep along causing misery and despair to the loved ones who have to mourn their brave hero or heroine's life and professional success. A career, Officer Cook, I'm sure with more to gain and to have that taken so suddenly, I cannot imagine the torment and anger your loved ones endured. Dade County and its citizens were the recipients of excellent care, character and commitment by a man of morals and values. Always concerned and always full of humility, honesty and the wisdom that vision brings to integrity and dignity. Saluted for valor and courage. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

The rich live it up. The poor they seem to suffer from adversity which follows them like a bad scent. The humble and humane, their heroism and humility toward humanity shines like a polished diamond. You worked and toiled on Dade County's safety, Officer Cook, your belief was everything would be fine if we stayed the correct course. Your endless courage and the channels of valor, vigilance and the focus on honesty and integrity made peace and unity, harmony and freedom stand up. Time moves on. Your refined character, Officer Cook, does the most difficult job now for eternity and that is to guard God's streets where heroism and bravery reside with one another. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Terror creates that turbulent tunnel of who knows what? The demons of diabolical people seem to undermine the good that most people yearn for. Sad, Mr. Pearsall lived with three generations of his family and don't you just wonder why honesty, dignity and integrity never left with him when he walked out of his front door on May 16, 1979? Ponder that question, it's not rhetorical, it's about common sense and the wisdom that having maturity brings to an individual who is reportedly old enough to make his own decisions. You had that wisdom, vision and clarity of courage and honor, Officer Cook, to lay your life down on behalf of Dade County, a young man of sound mind, serenity and the ingenuity of intuitions that have served as our inspirations from your heroism, the stewardship of a serene humanity. Your valiant soul, Officer Cook, is never too far away and besides, God's perpetual lights are always shining down brightly on us. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Your peaceful inner spirit reflects the mood we should be in carrying out your legacy to its fullest power of persuasion. Chief Jacobs, you were a thousand percent correct, your friend and hero, Bill Cook, had that innate sense of timing and did what any officer would do for their comrades, seek peace and attempt to go after it.

Direction can be a specific place or giving instructions to others. Your compass, Officer Cook , headed in many places here in Dade County demonstrating goodwill, character and the conviction to uplift our ships of safety before they capsized. Climaxing in fruitful journeys, Officer Cook, your dignity and honor grabbed our deepest of intentions as your attention to detail helped lead you to accomplishment. It's still a crying tragedy that your life was taken before you could fulfill more missions where heroism and humility lifted humanity from its doldrums of doom. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Cruelty corrodes an already disturbed world. Public servants courage, compassion, care and concern carefully tell us the story of their brave and civil lives of humility and the humble honor and esteem by which they lead and lived lives of heroism. Heroism the word Dade County citizens have come to honor and etch their memories of you, Officer Cook in. Walls and slabs of marble and granite only skim the surface of the serenity, safety and security you supplied us with. Deeply indebted to your unwavering, undying and unselfish dignity, integrity and its boldness and bravery behind your desired hunts for evil. Not far from us and always watching over your loving family and crusading professional peers, rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
