Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

Character breeds charm and charisma. Bravery and boldness bare out the commitments and courage you had, Officer Cook, among your beloved family, brothers and sisters of valor, honesty and the collage of integrity and dignity so very instrumental in battling a foe such as violence. Here in Dade County where you lived and excelled as a humble hero of faith and desire, there will be no qualms as to your authenticity. Legitimate and so saluted as a legend of being a fine warrior who spread peace, harmony and the values of possessing outstanding morals. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Most of the men and women who you worked with were good people, excellent officers and devoted family people. Their infrastructures were sound foundations and let me say you laid down your life, Officer Cook, so Dade County and its residents could experience a little prosperity and the conduits of peace and tranquility that further enhance our pursuits of happiness. You had happiness, Officer Cook and your fondness for the outdoors, your dreams and aspirations should have been allowed to continue. I guess God had other plans for a stout man of conviction, commitment and character, brave, bold and humane until your last mission on this Earth. We are sad, your family is sad and yet the journeys of justice keep marching forward as you rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

The wings of wonder give us time to ponder. a public servant's fate rests in God's hands and in their makeup of honesty, integrity and the dignity for which they battle brazen and callous persons. Their evil sparks unmitigated terror and the likes of that enemy were your responsibilities, Officer Cook. To quash, to conquer and to vanquish its ugliness replacing it with peace and quiet for Dade County. A light of your soul and its character and humility still burns brightly each day up above. A salute to a valiant man most resourceful and always considerate. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Somersaulting through serious danger, your valor and humility, Officer Cook, made all the difference here in Dade County. Its prosperity and goodwill sealed by your deeds of desire and heroic actions. May 16, 1979 was a day, tragic and unbelievable in that a depressed young man who was that heinous could shoot at you, Officer Cook, he took your treasured life of compassion and goodness and hurt the entire police world. Your character and caring concern are now blessing from heaven those who carry a burden so heavily on their shoulders. Turmoil and mayhem need no introductions, their mindset has to be destroyed so serenity and peace can occupy their solemn traits over mankind. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Benign is something usually harmless. Violence and its evil are as damming as a venomous snake. Police officers commit to the morals and lessons they learn in the academy and then take them to the streets to save and preserve the dignity of life. Peace and unity came from your very heroic soul of character, humility, honesty and integrity to be henceforth and forever honored solemnly. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

It seems lately as though the rules of engagement have let up a little. In this seemingly never ending war over wickedness there can be no surcease. No backing down, no giving in. Capitulating cannot set in. You kept your eyes and ears on Dade County's pulse and heart for six years of loyal and dedicated service. Nothing finer than your honesty, integrity and the dignity that ingenuity, intelligence and intuition may deliver. The thugs, perpetrators and criminals don't own the streets, police officers with confidence and the courage of character and their abilities such as yours, Officer Cook, must be focused and honed in on their tasks and assignments at hand as you always were. A hero of the high regard and a savior and warrior to be welcomed into God's eternal houses of perseverance. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. The flows of ferocity and tenacity must not be unglued nor interrupted.

Distrust, Disgrace. Disgust. The ultimate humiliation and betrayal of one's badge of honor, boldness and commitment and a uniform that is supposed to be worn smartly, with integrity and the stellar and humane dignity designed to battle terror. Nothing worse than a public servant out in the streets demonstrating a lack of morals for their job where safety and security are of paramount importance. Dade County never worried about you, Officer Cook, nothing God forbid, rogue, corrupt or dishonorable, just a big old smile and enhancement to last forever. That excellent character and conviction has been shielded and taken to a higher heavenly level where you can patrol Our Lord's venues without further harm. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
