Responsibilities are an important part of life as they teach us what real bravery can do to fix what ails humanity. In the heat of the battle, police have the greatest support system there is. You raced to save your comrades and citizens under fire that day in Dade County, Officer Cook. God given courage. Our Lord transplanted in you, Officer Cook, the bravery and boldness of a lion. Stout and solid. Never can anyone say you did not perform up to snuff. When expectations are running high it is the tough that get going. Your personality, Officer Cook, was dynamic and so were your principles of courtesy, honor and integrity. Dignity was heroically and humbly brought closer to humanity. Humility was served with principles no doubt. Our onuses were cleverly handled by a well received man. By being smart and intuitive, you remain a hero of the humble mentions who will forever be etched in our hearts and minds. Our souls were quenched and nourished by your unending honor, integrity and the dignity to stay loyal and fair. Police work is not self-indulgence, it is the act of being involved in making lives matter and procuring a little stream of safety and security for all. Dade County got truly one of the best public servants, brave and faithful fighting for what we believed in and for that which you aspired to become. Those skies got a little brighter by your shining presence, no pretense, just all out effort in serving our best interests. A classic man of character and conviction whose actions demonstrated a willingness to battle for what you believed in. Truly a well trusted and fiercely loyal officer out there, Officer Cook. What is terribly missed is you physical and smiling face. That is now and for the last thirty-nine years been in God's eternal shelter of compassion where you can serve an even greater role and that is to patrol those pearly gates of esteem and gallantry. Ten minutes or so and five minutes after you arrived on that domestic scene all heck broke loose despite your best endeavors to calm down a young man bent on vindictiveness. Your family experienced tragedy, Officer Cook, when your dad, Charles, suddenly passed two and a half years before your untimely death in the line of duty. Bragging and being brazen don't belong in any police department and your modest and mild manner, Officer Cook, allowed Dade County the opportunity to live freely and peacefully.
