Mr.Pearsall's antipathy tragically set off a chain of violence that awful day of May 16,1979 when a supreme, superb and brave young man fought him until his last breath. You performed, Officer Cook, as any excellent man or woman would do, you remained true and loyal to your badge, kept honesty, hope and humility right where integrity, character and dignity belonged. Dade County would be thankful for your devoted, faithful and steadfast determination to rid a neighborhood of wickedness. Nothing but praise and salutes are given to your heart and soul for building sound cornerstones of courage and conviction. A man steeped in character and trusted commitment. A fine young man gone too soon. I spoke yesterday with your former partner and close friend Officer DiGenova wishing him a happy and healthy Labor Day holiday he's fine and doing well in Ormond Beach, Florida where he resides. Your loving smile has been missed so much. Your heart, soul and honor were the conveyors of courage, peace and prosperity. It is a crying shame and horrible loss to your familyand department that carries your zestful missions forward with the same bravery, heart and vibrant soul all solemnly saluted for virtue and values. Badge#1664 was always there to lend a helping assist and there won't be another more resilient, faithful and resourceful public servant than you were. Humanity was crushed when you were taken senselessly, heinously and without any reason other than the coward that had an intense hate for authority and was obviously disturbed and without a mindful heart and soul. Scared and afraid only enflames a situation. You were unafraid to tackle difficult issues with dire circumstances, Officer Cook. You were said to be excellent in quelling and in handling domestic problems. On May 16, 1979 your entire repertoire of honesty, dignity, character and integrity needed to be utilized here in Dade County to the utmost power. Sadly the man who took your young life hadno morals, heart and even a soul that cared a little. You did care and you were devoted and determined along with your brave and loyal comrades to end his terror before things mushroomed out of control. Out of kilter never serves any positive purpose and your passions and calming voice did as muchas they could. Your heroic actions that day saved lives of citizens and those of your faithful comrades. Sometimes like a rabbit one must race over to a scene to lend a helping hand. Rabbits jump, honorable men and women must do likewise. Your journeys and humbly heroic earthly missions, Officer Cook were put forth to alleviate the pain and anguish of torment, turmoil and terror in order for Dade County's residents to sleep soundly, safely and most securely at night. The perils were undertaken with perseverance, tact and sound judgment. Always a gentleman first and foremost whose ingenuity, integrity and respectful dignity never were absent. Your heart,soul and grace was especially what we needed to thrive and to survive.
