Reflections for Police Officer William Coleman Cook

Police cannot become involved in quagmires as their jobs at times require them to take a quantum leap of faith and honesty while doing their duties protecting and saving life. You did a remarkable job, Officer Cook, in serving all Dade County. It was all about your unwavering character, courtesy and the commitments to integrity and dignity. Never a more moral man full of humility which was humanity's elixir. Violence and evil need quality individuals brave and sure handling difficult assignments. You are to be fondly remembered and always humbly saluted for resolve, respect and sheer resourcefulness. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Scoundrels are those who cause woeful harm to our society. Their persistent evil and misdeeds are exactly why we need reliable and most capable men and women protecting our values. A system of checks and balances where righteous and honorable souls of bravery go head to head with indignity and its violence. You took very good care of Dade County, Officer Cook, a man of your solemn and most humanely humble words of boldness and character very well spelled out and one whom seized his chances to make his community serene and secure once more. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. A structure with resolve will last longer than a foundation without a base by which to grow.

Congestion clogs the arteries of acumen and awareness and even worse they make it harder for duly diligent men and women to rightfully perform their assigned jobs. You had a specific role, Officer Cook, never simple, certainly not routine and that was to protect and service all Dade County residents using a total picture of perseverance, honor and the alacrity of dignity and integrity enhancing reverence of one's heroically stoic character. A keeper is a keeper. A winner is just that. A truckload of tenacity, a boatload of bravery supports a carload of courage and dedication. The trailers better be secure as honesty and dignity takeoff. Your flights to our freedoms took off over forty-three years ago and never stopped coming. Dade County and its folks received a lion's share of valuable vigilance and always prompt service with a warm greeting. But, never cross a public servant whose relevance and resolve are out there on the line where evil lurks and looks to take full advantage. The clarity of humility is the occupation of one's own character and commitment to justice being dished out fairly and as firmly as you did your job, Officer Cook. The people pay homage to your salvation and as consolation to your beloved family, the esteem and admiration you demonstrated on mankind's request. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

You had a cache of courage, character and just plain honor, Officer Cook. The man and that's being kind was a wicked person. Mr. Pearsall had a cache of crime and callousness on his mind. Why? This is anybody's best assessment. He faced paid his punishment as Detective Blocker shot and killed him ending a very sad day for Dade County. Although I'm sure your family, Officer Cook, would have preferred he face a jury trial and then have been found guilty and either gone to jail for life or face the electric chair for taking your precious and humble life serving Dade County away from you. It goes beyond that. Your caliber of courage and diggity now of heroic levels shall be saluted and so humanely honored for having served your missions of humanity with the most unselfish and undying hope and goodwill that mankind could ever ask for. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Class and decency are that distinction which creates the trust and truth of our most beloved and esteemed of heroes and heroines.

Craziness still controls the streets where our morbid sense of curiosity seems to be ignited. And like a fire , evil can surely spread far and wide within a short time. There were no lapses in your quickness to respond to calls and that day, Officer Cook, May 16, 1979, you answered that domestic call quickly and of course with your honor and integrity facing danger face to face. No more a stellar character and humble dignity that all public servants brave and humane must possess. Dade County is a little less safer because of your absence. It makes your family all the more determined to respectfully honor and pursue your legacy of respect and diligence never to be forgotten. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.

Put the weapons down and surrender quietly before all out hell breaks loose. And exactly by not following a public servant's directives can this result. You tried your best, Officer Cook, on behalf of Dade County's residents. Believe me from what I read you exposed your soul to evil and reached out honestly and in a dignified fashion to stop Mr. Pearsall. His humility and civility were not up to the tasks. Our Maker's sovereignty has your character and charisma stored in His glorious palace for eternal safekeeping. We honor your heroic intentions of integrity, ingenuity and intuition by solemnly saluting your bravery. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero.
