Rest in Peace, Marshal Conniff. As a resident of Eastern Washington, I was saddened not only to read of your death but to learned your name is not honored as it should be. I learned of you through the book Breaking Blue, and the fate you suffered is not one I will soon forget. I hope and pray that Alma learned the truth after she departed this earth, and that George, Mary and Olive finally received the peace they had been waiting for. You were a fine man, Marshal Conniff, and you will forever live on in the words of others.
Rest easy.

After reading the reflection left for you by Sgt. Fitzgerald, I further researched your death and was so saddened to learn of the circumstances and people behing your murder. The great majority honor the badge they wear but a few disgrace it and themselves. You were in the first category, it seems your killer was in the other.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

RIP, George. You did not deserve this fate nor did you earn it. The men who took your life betrayed you and the solemn vow we all take. God Bless You, Sir.
The death of Officer (Marshal) Conniff was detailed in the book "Breaking Blue" which chronicles the investigation conducted by the (then) Sheriff of Pend Oreille County, Tony Bamonte, who in 1985 began investigating the 50 year old unsolved and virtually non-investigated homicide of Marshal Conniff. I would encourage people to get an understanding of this crime and who the perpetrators were. This murder was shameful and inexcusable.

Being from a nieghboring community this hits home with me. Its a shame that it took 50 years for this officer to finally be able to rest in peace. Your service is not forgotten, and hopefully will never be. Rest in peace brother we will take if from here.
