Earl Confer, my grandfather, was killed 11 years prior my birth. To me, he is and was a heroe in every way. His humble start to life was his moniker for life, his work as a Greene county sheriff deputy was his mark of humility; a reflection of his kind hearted nature. I only wish I'd known him, vicariously I've grown to. I write this for his memory. Steve Confer

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 66th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered.
