My uncle I remember as a child on holidays you my dad and others playing the guitar and singing good times. I wanted to be a cop until you were killed. That day seeing you at the hospital changed my mind. I will love you forever.

Ignacio Gonzales Conchos, A brave and loving" Son, Husband, Father, Brother" and Uncle Whom was my Tio Nacho.
He was a happy a funny Tio who gave me the nick name Lizard
That I grew up with to this day. He was also known as Officer Friendly on and off duty, he protected all without the thought or fear of the evil that took his life but not our memories that we live on to tell to yours and our Family and all others. Rip Ignacio G. Conchos I love and miss you.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 30th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

27 years have gone by and it feels like i just saw you yesterday for the last time. I remember how proud I was when you became a Phoenix Police Officer to think that my Tio Nacho would wear a badge and protect us all from harm. I would never fear anyone or anything because I have my Tio on my side and he wore a badge. Today I am still very proud of you and the way you lived your life, and how you cared for others even those you didnt know. But you did we were your community, and you knew the danger that surronded your friends, family, and those you pass everyday. You took a stand to not complain about what was happing, but to help in any way even if it would one day take your life and you would leave everything you knew in your life behind. Today your children, nieces, nephew and grandchildren still remember you most by the stories and memories that those who were here to know you tell. I recently met one or your fellow brothers and I spoke of you to him. I was so PROUD to do so. I listened to him as he spoke of how people treat and think of officers, not realizing the chance they take every day to leave on there shift and may not return. But there are those who do know and who are greatful for you who wear the blue and I am one of those people. I Miss and Love you very much Tio Nacho. Love Forever Your Niece Nonie.

Hi, I am am teacher at Ignacio Conchos school and was teaching some of my eigth graders about the man our school is named after today on "Constitution Day" and the same question kept coming up. What does the G. stand for and after much research and toil I have been unable to recover that answer. If anyone knows please contact me and the memory of a fallen hero will continue to live on, especially here at Ignacio G. Conchos Elementary.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

My father loved the community he worked in very much. It was also the community he grew up in and now has an school named after him. He was an all-around good person and had many family and friends that loved him. I remember as a young child a visit to my fifth grade class room as he represented "Officer Friendly". I was very proud and still am to this day. I miss him every day and I know his favorite show would have been "COPS". Thank you dad for all you did. Your Son "Petey"
