Rosie, your were a mentor and friend. We shared many close encounters. I learned many survival skills from and at times we both used them to be survivors. You suffered relentlessly with migrane headaches but was always there for duty as the ultimate police officer. We all saw how happy you were when they discovered a sliver of tooth left behind was removed and the migraines went away. You were always the clown and humorist. Were you were there happiness. Dinner at Mama's house was a riot. I remember the day you were shot. Roger Hagen called me at home and told me it was bad. I was crushed. I went in that night. Bureau roll call was silent. It turned to be your End Of Watch. I was assigned to process your evidence in the drying room. I was never more despondent than during that task. I have learned to bury these memories but they still pop up.You will always be there my friend.

It has been 29 years since you left us. I know that I was your sister-in-law but to me you were my brother. We had lots of memories, both happy and sad. I will never forget you Ross. I know that some day we will see you again. I am sure that God has you on patrol in heaven. May Jesus hold you in the bosom of his arms. Until we meet again.

Agape,

Anna

It Has been many Years since I thought of you and your kids Mr. Collura. I Remeber you as nothing other than a Family man who loved his children. I remeber Ross, Your son, and how strong he was when you were taken from him. I have been away from the church so long I have not kept up with what has been since then but I do remember the one thing that your Loving wife said with such grace and dignity, when she stated that she prayed for the man who took you from us. The sign of a true Christian. I admired your family ever since. May god take you unto his own as I hope to be taken one day.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I can only imagine the officer and person you were. I never had a chance to know you but I worked alongside your son as a Police Officer and what an honor that was. He is truely a professional and I am sure that you are very proud of him. Keep him safe.

Dear Dad,

It has been 21 years! I never see a day without your face in my thoughts. Thank you for all that you taught me to be: honest, loving, cheerful and smart. I know that I am like you in many ways. I also thank you for chosing my Mother to be your mate. She has been wonderful to us kids through all the years. I have so many memories that my current family thinks they know you. You were a great friend to all.

Love,

Hey Rosey,

It's been a long time but you are still in our thoughts and hearts. You inspired me so many years ago to pursue a career that now spans 27 years. You were my hero! I hope that I havn't let you down.
So many friends and so many funerals later we are still holding the line. Until we meet again.
