My father Michael J. Collins was only two years old when his father Officer Martin J. Collins was killed on duty. His mother died a few years later, leaving five orphaned Collins children. The impact of my grandfather's death on his survivors cannot be measured. Thank you for your sacrifice and for watching over us.

Officer Collins was a member of the Chicago Park District Police which around 1960 was incorporated into the Chicago Police Department. Your actions 90 years ago showed your professionalism as a police officer. Please know you will never be forgotten by the CPD.
