Reflections for Patrolman John S. Collins
Officer Collins lived next to us in the Beverly neighborhood.
The daughter of Casimir Wistert, another Chicago officer down, also lived four houses north of us in Beverly.
Neither forgotten and never will be.

Uncle Johnnie,
Tomorrow marks the 43rd year without you. You were and always will be my hero. I think of you often, as a loving son, brother, father, husband and most of all my uncle. My heart still hurts that time will never cure. All my love.

I am best friends with John Collins son Bob. I remember the day he got killed. It's sad to see even after 38 years later how the loss of a father can have on the outcome of someone's life. Bob is a great person who has all his life struggled because of a loss of a "true" father which is what John was to Bob. Today, Bob is a proud father of two wonderfull kids (adults) Joey & Melissa. It's sad to me that Bob's father was taken away from him at a time when he was needed most.
