He was one of my DI's at Fort Leonard Wood fall 1983. I will never forget his loud booming voice with his accent and the More cigarettes. Great DI with a fantastic sense of humor.

I served with this big dude in Hawaii....25th Mp Co. Great memories of a smile as big as the man. The guy you want to see roll up as back up any day! Have a fond memory of a butter bar getting his Jeep stuck on the beach and the tide rolling in. Sarge goes over and picks up the front of the Jeep, side steps about 5 or 6 steps and sets the Jeep down. Drove right out. Rest In Peace brother.

My Father... I just turned 12 years of age on March 1st. 1992 and my Father was called Home on the 20th. Day of April 1992. All I have are Wonderful memories of My Father. I'm 36yrs old now but when I visit the cemetery or look on the internet about my Father it feels so fresh still. He was called Home way to early I wish He could've been around to raise Me to become the Man I know He would've be proud of. I hope My actions on becoming my own man also trying to follow a wonderful Father did not tarnish the great legacy He left behind. I will forever Miss My Father

Platoon Daddy, you are missed but will never be forgotten. I found out some of your passing a little over a year after it occurred. I am not ashamed to admit I cried upon hearing the news. I was in your platoon at the 571st from Jan '87 until you moved on to become 1stSGT at the 1/9. You were a leader who taught us well, and took care of us too. I learned so much and became a 19 year old team leader due to you. I have never forgotten, and owe much to your leadership, as well as the person/man I am today. I moved on to active reserves, and became a civilian police officer (which I am now retired from). I have many fond memories, and stories, that I often tell to this day about you and our platoon. May you be at rest "Big Bueanna" (affectionate platoon nickname), and hopefully your family is doing well.

I arrived at C-2/3 Company at Ft. Leonard Wood in the spring of 1984 and a mountain of a man got on the cattle truck and said, My name is Kolone Kolone Jr. and I am your Senior Drill Sergeant..... As a 17 year old recruit SFC Kolone's gentle but commanding speech and the way he helped us become soldiers and men has stayed with me all these years. I came across this Office Down page today and a flood of emotion came rushing in. The man I am today I am today I owe in part to this great leader!

I was there the day he passed away, only a few feet from my front door in a court yard at an apartment complex. The four of us worked hard to bring him back, but God called him home. I remember how much he was appreciated by the those lives he touched. He was "the" example of how a person, soldier, man should be every day of his life, He is missed by all that knew him. I pray you sit at the right hand of Jesus.

SSG Kolone Kolone Jr. was my boss as the NCOIC of the Waianae Army Reccreation Center Military Police Detatchment for most of the 2 years and 9 months I was assigned there. It was a pleasure to serve with him, he was a greqt boss, one of the best I have ever worked for. RIP brother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventeenth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I knew him as SFC Kolone, and he was the senior Drill Sergeant in C-2/3, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. I owe the success of my military career to him, and probably my life as well, for teaching me the basics of being a Soldier.
