Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

I never met Richard Cloud, but he helped me out even after his death. You see I was a Tampa Police Officer, and after I left the department in 1976, I also worked with Customs in Colombia infiltrating the Cali Cartel. The operation was successful. I met with Cali Cartel Boss Miguel Angel Rodriguez Orejuela in his home in Cali, Colombia and we made a deal to ship a metric ton of Cocaine per month to Tampa. This vase was used by the Colombian Government to put the Cali Bosses in jail. Of course, revenge is as Colombian as Coffee. In 2008, Cali Family attempted to exact that revenge. The Cali family member lived in Florida. US Marshalls had a talk with him and told him of the "Cloud Law." They informed him that as I was a Tampa Police Officer, then went to work on a Federal Investigation, that if I turned up dead it would br the Death Penalty for him. He backed off. Decades after SGT. Richard Cloud was murdered, he is still saving lives. I am alive today because of the sacrifice of SGT. Cloud. He is still saving others. Hos Sacrifice was not in vain. He will always be dear to my heart.

I own the Penny Saver Weekly News in Tampa Florida. Dick Burdette gave my mom Linda Hope Barnhart (not the same Linda Hope mentioned in the book) several copies of the book The Last Lonely Eagle: the untold inside story of the 1975 Dick Cloud murder case Paperback – October 25, 2014 to sell for him. I have lost contact with him. If anyone has a way to reach Dick Burdette please have them call me at (813) 935-3115. I was a friend of Paris Cloud when they lived in Lutz - I was not aware at the time that I knew Pairs and Paul of the hell that their family had endured. Paris - I am so sorry for what your father and your family had to deal with of the events that I have read about in the book. It is an amazing book - a small look into shady politics and crime in and out of the Police Department and City of Tampa. Richard Cloud was a hell of a cop and an amazing person. Rest in Peace Richard Cloud - there will never be a never be another one like you. I am also so sorry for the loss of Paul Cloud.

Richard L.Cloud, you were my partner for many years, you taught me how to be a police officer. We always had one another’s back. I could write a book about our friendship. Your family was my family. I watched Paris & Paul grow up and remember Wanda well. We will meet again my friend until then Rest In Peace.

Hi Paris, My father was partners with your father. His name was BJ Anderson, I remembered my father always talking about your dad. I was young. I remember going to your father’s funeral. So sad you lost your father at such an early age. I lost my dad at 15.

Taken too soon, Sgt. Cloud was respected by many.

Several years ago, a cop that was on the force back then told me how he admired him. While I was growing up, a family member that was on the force back then many times told me about Sgt. Cloud.

I never Met Sergeant Cloud but If there is anyway I can assist in the families hope for re admittance for a moving testimony, It's that people must have respected your father. One man that could open his door to anyone must have been a good man I feel angry at the Mob and This is a coward act. It's a shame that those other's involved couldn't have shown more well mannered leadership in there ranks. Than to go after a Officer of the law considering that. They claim there's so called laws in the Costra Notra. Hi Paris My name is Barry I was used as a child in a Homicide TPSD Cover up in the early 80's and I feel that these incidents may be connected in a large way I started in Toronto Ontario, Canada's Bomb Squad then transferred into the Task force, I left the force willfully but my life was desecrated by the sudden uprise in gangs in the 2000's. My father Detective Guy Woolweaver was a friend and a partner of Detective Cloud's and I remember how much my father loved him. My father tragically was shot by another hunter in Texas very shortly after Richard was killed. I have always thought my father's shooting was a planned hit but never had the proof. They were both very brave men. I continue to pray for Richard's family.
