Carrie Cline-Ryan,

Are you aware that Carrie was also your great grandmother Cline's name? Her maiden name was Tate.
I would love to hear from you and your sister to share info. Your grandfather Ray was my husband's uncle and his father, John A Cline Jr.'s, brother. I have pictures of them together.

I am Meredith Cline.
Sheriff John Cline is also my great Grandfather. One of his son's
Raymond Cline Sr. is my Grandfather he was a decorated World War II Veteran who received two purple hearts.
Raymond Cline Jr. is my Dad. He was an only child.
My sister (Carrie who wrote above) and I do not know my Dad's relatives as his parents moved from Tennesse when he was a child. Our only known living Cline relative left is my Dad. Carrie, my Dad and I would love to have contact with any of our relatives.

I am so proud of my great grandfather and am touched by his ultimate sacrafice, being killed in the line of duty. I see that I have other relatives that are also Law Enforcement as well as my self. It must be in our blood! I have spent over 20 years and am currently still a sworn employee of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Sheriff John Cline was my great grandfather. His son, Graham Cline, was my grandfather and finished his father's term as sheriff. I listen to my Dad and grandfather talk about this several times.

Sheriff Cline was my great grandfather. My grandfather spoke of him often during my childhood. I respect him for his service to the great state of Tenessee and wish he had not met with such a demise. I still think about him to this day.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 83rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Sheriff Clines grandson, Robin Cline, and his wife Sally Cline, now live in Idaho Springs, CO. My son, Scott Watts, married their daughter, Holly Cline (Watts). I live in Chattanooga now, and, Scott and Holly came to visit me. I took Holly for the first time to her great grandfathers grave. Since I have know Holly, she's always been so interested in history and preserving it. I'm working hard to try to get her, and possibly mom and dad to move here...Her and my son have 2 children, Christian, my amazing grandson who is 6, and Lily, my beautiful grandaugher who is 2! I would so love to bring them here. Holly, especially has a connection with her past. She works during the summer with the Georgetown Loop Railroad as a tour guide...I know history is in her heart, and what better history than the history of her roots.
