Reflections for Investigator Joseph Thomas Aversa
Joe,
14 years later you are still sorely missed. As my senior man, you were a great inspiration to me and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace. Vlad

19 years ago I entered the Academy and for the next 26 weeks I stood and sat next to a man who came to be a very good friend. And now it has been 13 years since we lost Joe.
Joe - to this day i wear a memorial bracelet with your name on it. I am proud to say I knew Joey Aversa.

I went through the Academy with Joey and still tell stories about those days. He's truly missed.

JOEY WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, MY BEST FRIEND. IM GLAD I GOT TO SHARE 7 WONDERFUL YEARS WITH HIM. HE TAUGHT ME SO MUCH ABOUT LIFE. HE WAS COMPASSIONATE, UNDERSTANDING, LOVING, STRONG AND THE FUNNIEST GUY I EVER MET. ANYONE WHO EVER MET JOEY WILL REMEMBER HIS GREAT LAUGH. I CANT BELIEVE IT'S BEEN ALMOST 13 YEARS SOMETIMES IT SEEMS LIKE JUST YESTERDAY.
.....EVERYDAY LIFE GETS SO BUSY AND WE FORGET TO REMEMBER...... I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU JOEY.. LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU, YOUR WIFE EILEEN

Joe was one of the most enthusiastic people I have ever known. His death is still hard to believe all these years later. He was a credit to the NYSP, and is sorely missed. I was proud to be not only a classmate, but a friend. Rest in peace.
