Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jose "Joe" Cisneros
Dear Deputy Cisneros,
You would be amazed to learn that through modern DNA evidence, the person responsible for the Jane Doe murder in Dixon has been identified. The suspect is currently in Solano County Jail pending trial for her murder. Your wife told me you were troubled by this case and worked tirelessly even on your own time. Your persistence and professionalism has greatly assisted the District Attorney’s Office in this case. RIP Righteous One.

It’s awesome to see that your hard work and awesome police skills solved a 42 year old cold case 38 years after your passing. Your family, community, agency, coworkers and the family of that murder victim hold you in the highest regard. Godspeed brother.

We moved to Vacaville when I was 12. I know the road/and or area well since it is just outside Vacaville. Later, my brother and I went into law enforcement. My brother, a CHP Officer assigned to the Fairfield office was working that day and was one of the CHP pursuers, who engaged in the pursuit of Jose's assailants. I too heard good things about Deputy Cisneros, since he and other Solano deputies interacted with my brother's CHP comrades regularly. I thank Jose for his distinguished service and his sacrifice to the citizens of Solano County.

I worked with Jose. He was killed at the Tree of Knowledge on Cherry Glen Rd. The Tree of Knowledge was the half way point between north and south beats. Parked there often meeting other deputies

I worked with Jose at the Solano County Sheriff's Department. I first met Jose when I was a Reserve Police Officer for the Vallejo Police Department.
Another former Deputy Sheriff for Solano County and I were talking about Jose this evening. Although, I had left Solano County SD and was working for Monterey County SD the loss of Jose is still fresh in our memories. Jose was a very good guy and I hope that his family has faired well since his passing. Gods Speed Jose!

Joe, I was being hired the same year you paid the ultimate sacrifice. I worked with all of your co-workers. They all said you were a good cop. I salute you. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Joe and I were hired on the Solano County Sheriff's Dept the same day in 1971...We were sworn in side by side and attended the academy together. I loved working with him...great sense of humor but above all ...a good cop.
I salute you Deputy Jose Cisneros....old friend.

Cassandra-
Although I never knew your father I want you to know many of us will never forget him and his sacrifice and we will all remember your family-having to go on without him. We understand how horrible that is-you must of been very young when he was killed.
I look at his picture and he looks like he was a funny guy-he has a kind face also.
Please know that many of us walk the same path as you and we stand by you with love & prayers.

I hope to meet your family at a COPS function someday
Rest In Peace.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I had the privelage of meeting several Solano County Deputies while stationed in Fairfield as a U S Marine recruiter in the 1980's. They were a great bunch of cops and I am sure that Deputy Cisneros was, too. Rest in peace, Sir.
