Reflections for Patrolman Carmelo A. "Scotty" Cattano
Patrolman Cattano,
On today, the 60th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces in the Pacific during World War II as a member of the 421st Night Fighter Squadron. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I was the step son of Officer Cattano’s widow for 47 years until her passing in July of 2019. Many times she would share stories about Carmen or as she called him “Scotty”. What a wonderful man.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

I said a little prayer today for Patrolman Cattano and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.
