Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

Remembrances draped in Blue
Valor and Honor it happens here
With heavy heart we shed a tear
Seems each week we add another name
When will this costly burden ever wane?
Remembrance continuous thin blue line
Officer James J Carmody, he stood fine
Thursday, May 31st of 1934; struck down
Fifty years young and his watch was done
A distant relative I did not know this man
Why was he taken; what was in god’s plan
Safe delivery of ill child to nearby hospital
Struck by a streetcar, why? His time to go!
Officer’s Memorial; perpetually honors them all
Remembrances for that blue line, so thin, yet tall
I thank the men and women whom are colored blue
Sleep soundly each night with thanks to each of you
So as this New Year dawns I’ll share my bluest prayer
May each year pass with fewer names written there!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Carmody and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Carmody has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Carmody, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Carmody is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
