JM was my grandmother's brother. Too bad there remains so much confusion over the events on the night of the shooting. My grandmother had told many wonderful stories about her brother. I wish I had known him.

Thought I would pass on his daughter's memory who died in 1986. She was a neighbor of mine. She said he had brought something home for his wife to fix (vegetable--but I can't remember what). His wife fixed it and the daughter said she was glad she did. If she hadn't, she would have always regretted it as he wanted this for supper. God rest you.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

It would be really great if all Fallen Officers had a history of the circumstances surrounding their deaths. It makes no difference how you died, you made the ultimate sacrifice. I just wanted you to know that you have not been and never will be forgotten. May you continue to Rest in Peace!
