Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Hector Cuevas, Jr.
Another horrible tragedy for my former department. A loss of life in the line of duty is insurmountable. Deputy Cuevas will be in our hearts and minds into eternity.

Sheriff Dicus was right about everything. You loved your job dearly, and you resolutely hunted evil until the end.
Although I’m not a law enforcement officer yet or have known you, I do believe that you were ready to protect with loyalty and courage, and you were always willing to build bridges with the community. I’ve traveled to neighboring Chino Hills numerous times and even though I do not see deputies that often, I know that because of them doing the same work that you loved doing, we could live in a prosperous and safe community.
And what about the rest? Don’t worry, your fellow comrades will make you proud. Your department will make you proud. Your allied agencies will make you proud.
And someday I’ll make you proud while doing the work you lived doing.
Dear comrade, rest in peace.
