May we honor the memory of Officer Christopher Reese, whose bravery and dedication to protecting our community will never be forgotten. He faced every challenge with unwavering courage and selflessness, always putting the safety of others before his own. His ultimate sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the risks we take every day. May his spirit live on in our hearts, and may we strive to embody the values he stood for: integrity, honor, and service. Rest in peace, my brother. You will be deeply missed.

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."

Lord our God, you are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Brother-in-Blue, Police Officer Christopher Reese, of the Virginia Beach VA Police Department, was suddenly and violently taken from us; Shot & Killed in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and comrades by the power and protection of the cross. I ask this through Christ Jesus, our Lord, and by His Holy Name and Authority, I pray. Amen.
