My wholehearted condolences go out to both families of Officer Enrique Martinez - his birth family and his dear brothers in blue. I'm so very, very sorry for your loss and my loss too as a citizen of Chicago. We all lose because another fine policeman is cut down in the mean streets of Chicago.

When are we going to get tough on crime!!!!!!!! No more jail time for these heartless murderers for crying out loud. No one has the right to live their life if they mercilessly murder another human being. I don't care how young, poor, uneducated the perps are. The police are put in place by God and He gives the police and all government officials the authority to keep order until His Kingdom Rules! Sadly, it's the way of this world to mistrust, disrespect, dislike government officials but the Lord doesn't see it that way. We are to SUBMIT to all civil servants and authorities no matter how imperfect or flawed they may be in our own imperfect flawed eyes.

Romans 13:1-7: Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore, one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.

Rest In Peace Dear Officer Martinez until God awakens you to live again!

Officer Martinez, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 3 years of commitment to law enforcement, your family, and the Chicago Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace, Brother!
