Reflections for Park Ranger Kevin Melvin Grossheim
Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Park Ranger Kevin Grossheim and the extended law enforcement family of the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior.
End of Watch Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Ranger Grossheim, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 31 years of commitment to law enforcement, your family, and the National Park Service. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace, Brother!

Thank you Kevin for your service to the lands, waters, and people of Voyageurs National Park. We may have only worked together for a season but you taught me lessons I will carry for life. You taught me to drive a boat, you taught me how to approach everything with safety on your mind, and most of all you taught me how to be a good Ranger. Thank you for taking me and others on adventures to share some of your favorite hidden places in Voyageurs. Rest in peace you'll NEVER be forgotten!

God of Justice, I am grateful for the lives and sacrifices of all America’s Peace Officers. They died serving us. Help us never forget. Help us celebrate their lives and honor their sacrifices. Be with the families of these fallen peace officers. Comfort them and give them Your strength and peace. Guide us as we seek to take care of the families of these fallen heroes. May we care for them with integrity. In commemorating the deaths of these fallen heroes, help us also to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition from this earthly life to the heavenly life yet to come. This assurance was guaranteed to all believers upon the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to that life to come with joy and anticipation. Thank You, Lord God, for hearing this prayer. In the mighty and holy name of Christ Jesus, Your dear Son, I pray. Amen.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]
