Reflections for Patrolman James Crowley

GOD BLESS YOU, BROTHER!!
I cannot say enough about how I feel that your life was taken from you by a drunk! Then he gets 3 years for your life!! I’m bitter about that, as I’ve lost many Brothers in my career, and the time between the incident and the loss of life should not matter, he took your life! I’m heartbroken my brother!! For you and your family and your brothers, who I’m sure feel the same pain! I’m a 27 year FHP State Trooper, Homicide Investigator, and worked where I grew up. You can probably figure the middle of that! Time between and time we lost you should not matter, Your normal life was taken 37 years ago! I pray that the time you had was awesome and blessed!
3 Years…..really!!!! Our court system is badly broken!! Just GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, AND BROTHERS IN ARMS!!

FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL

On behalf of the 68 dedicated volunteers associated with POINT 27 across the United States, we would like to offer condolences for Patrolman James Crowley. Please know we are eternally grateful for James’ service and his ultimate sacrifice.

To honor Patrolman Crowley, POINT 27 sent 27 Thin Blue Line Dog Tag Necklaces, engraved with “Blessed are the Peacemakers for they will be called children of God” Matthew 5:9, to the Chaplin Bob Montelongo, Chicago Police Department in Chicago, Illinois for James’ partner and his fellow officers. POINT 27 also sent a Folded Flag Necklace engraved with “Greater Love has no one than this; than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend” John 15:13 for Patrolman James Crowley’s mother.

God of Justice, I am grateful for the lives and sacrifices of all America’s Peace Officers. They died serving us. Help us never forget. Help us celebrate their lives and honor their sacrifices. Be with the families of these fallen peace officers. Comfort them and give them Your strength and peace. Guide us as we seek to take care of the families of these fallen heroes. May we care for them with integrity. In commemorating the deaths of these fallen heroes, help us also to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition from this earthly life to the heavenly life yet to come. This assurance was guaranteed to all believers upon the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to that life to come with joy and anticipation. Thank You, Lord God, for hearing this prayer. In the mighty and holy Name of the Lord Christ Jesus, and by His Authority, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scripture on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [The peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

Holy Scriptures of Hope and Comfort:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

[Jesus said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

"And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in
paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

[Jesus said,] "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." [Matthew 5:4 ESV]

Officer Crawley, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 1 year of commitment to law enforcement, your family, and the Chicago Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace, Brother!
