Extending thoughts and prayers to the immediate family of Police Officer Darron Burks and the extended law enforcement family of the Dallas Police Department, Texas.
End of Watch Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Officer Burks,
I posted to your memorial page earlier, long before I saw the article I just read that mentioned more about the events that led to your death, but more importantly, the article mentioned your left a career in education as a math teacher where you mentored youth at risk at the Texas Can Academy. You left that career to continue to serve your community by protecting it. You gave so much to those around you. Your loss is doubly tragic. It will be felt by so many from your current career as well as your prior one.
Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13

My condolences to Officer Burks and my thought to the other injured officers. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that Officer Burks' family must be feeling. It must be especially painful for the family after Officer Burks transitioned from a safe career in education to the risks of law enforcement. I also transitioned late in life from 25 years in another career to law enforcement, but I was able to retire after 12 years as a LEO. It is heartbreaking to think what Burks' family and friends must be going through after this heinous and senseless incident. RIP Officer Burks.

O God of Peace, so many of America’s Peace Officers who are on the front lines to serve and protect us never make it back home to their families. I now pray for these fallen peace officers, Lord God, who gave their lives serving and protecting us. I pray for the families of these fallen heroes, who have to now endure life without their loved ones. Lord God, society tries to move forward, but there is always violence, lawlessness, and bloodshed occurring; attributed to evil humanity. I approach Your throne of glory and grace to beg of You for peace. Lord God, bring Your peace to this land – the United States of America. I plead for Your divine intervention to quiet our hearts and unify our communities. Stop the violence that occurs amid our broken cities. I thank You for all America’s Peace Officers who have died serving and protecting us, and ask that You send an everlasting peace so that America’s Peace Officers on the streets may be safe and return home to their loved ones at the end of their assigned shifts. In Christ Jesus' mighty and holy Name, and by His Authority, I pray for America's Fallen Peace Officers. Amen.
Scripture Verses of Support, Comfort, and Hope from the Holy Bible":
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." [Matthew 5:4 ESV]
