Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Matthew Bowen

"Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and perpetual light shine upon him."

I had the pleasure to work with and supervise Officer Bowen when he worked at Concord PD. He was a SOLID officer, hard worker, go getter and the nicest guy! I was sad when he left us and lateraled to Vacaville PD, but I understood why he did (shorter commute for more time with family). When I got this app a couple years ago, I never thought I would see, or at least never wanted to see someone I knew or actually worked with to be on here. Matt, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and your sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten! Rest in peace brother ♥️

Heavenly Father, so many of America's Peace Officers, who are on the front lines to protect and serve us never make it back home to their families. I now offer this prayer for these fallen American Peace Officers, Lord God, who gave their lives in service for us. I now turn my prayer to the families of these fallen heroes, who have to now endure life without their loved ones. Lord God, society tries to move forward, but there is always bloodshed occurring. I now approach Your Throne of Glory and Grace to beg of You for peace, not the peace of this world, but for the peace only You can give us. Lord God, bring peace to our land - the United States of America. I plead for Your divine intervention to quiet our hearts and unify our communities. O Lord, stop the violence and lawlessness that occurs amid our cities. I thank You for all the American Peace Officers who have died protecting us, and ask that You send an everlasting peace so that America's Peace Officers on the streets may be safe and return home to their loved ones at the end of their assigned shifts. In Christ Jesus' mighty and holy Name, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scripture Verses of Hope and Comfort from the Law Enforcement Officers' Bible:

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." [Matthew 5:9 CSB], and;

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." [Matthew 5:4 CSB]

God rest your soul, Officer Bowen. May your family, friends, colleagues, and community find the strength and resolve to carry on in your physical absence and continue to spread the goodness to which you were so selflessly committed. You were among the best humanity has to offer. Your dedication to service and your ultimate sacrifice shall not be forgotten.

Officer Bowen, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 4 1/2 years of commitment to law enforcement service, to your family, and to the Vacaville Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
