Officer Derbin, I am so very sorry that this happened to you. You were only 23 years old. You had the right to live to old age, but unfortunately, someone took that right away from you. This is very upsetting. Rest In Peace young man. You were very brave. Thank you for your service.

The nightmare of waking up to an officer down whether from your agency, a neighboring agency, or across the country is heart breaking.

We came into our shift with one goal in mind. To track down your killer. We responded with overwhelming force and numbers on any possible sighting calls we got.

The sun shined a little brighter when we heard suspect is down.

You, and your family is in everyone of our thoughts and prayers. This isn’t about the suspect this is about the celebration of life and joy that Jacob brought everyone that was around him.

I know that your mother, father, fiancé and everyone close feels the support from all over the country.

Thank you for your service to this country, and the community. Hopefully someday the respect to all law enforcement is back. So a family of a hardworking, dedicated, military man, and police officer won’t ever feel this heart break again.

Rest in peace Brother..
