Officer Derbin, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 10 months of commitment to law enforcement service, to your family, and to the Euclid Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Young Brother!

Officer Derbin, May the God who called you home early, be the same One who is the source of rest, peace and hope for your fiancee, family and department. Only He knows why - to all of us it is senseless. Accept all the tears and love that we send, even those of us who will never know you. It is too much for us to bear; we can never know how you feel - we can only pray and thank you for your supreme sacrifice.

Derbin, you not only were a great police officer, but you were a great friend. Walking from our apartment complex every morning to the academy, joking around about what the day was to bring will always be missed. You knew how to get an entire room laughing in an instant no matter how fatigued or grumpy we were. Thanks for all the great memories in the academy brother. Rest easy, never forgotten.
