Reflections for Police Officer Jacob Derbin

Officer Jacob Derbin's dedication and bravery will never be forgotten. At just 23, his selfless service, both as a police officer and a United States Army National Guard veteran, exemplified true heroism. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and fiancée as we honor his sacrifice and mourn his untimely loss.

I am deeply sorry for your loss of such a wonderful man. You are all in my prayers. I will be making a memorial gift in Jacob's memory to the Euclid Police Department K-9 Unit. If you need a police dog vest, please contact me as I purchase them through Vested Interest and would get one for your K-9 Officer.

This brave hero is my son. I'm so glad I came across this page. I read many pages of these reflections posted. My son lived to protect his country, community and family. He did everything right. He had ENDLESS potential and possibilities. He followed in the footsteps of my dad who helped raise him into the amazing human being that our world was so blessed to have him in. He was a police officer. My brother is currently one too. My only peace is that he is in his Papa's arms in heaven together. If only the world were a little bit like my son, then we would have a better place. My world is shattered. People thank me for raising a hero, I just say I'm so glad the world had him. I already knew he was a hero since he was a little boy, truly a unique and special human being from the start. I'm so sorry this happened to you my Jakey. Good always wins....

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
