The passing of Correctional Sergeant Andrew John Faught serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable dangers that those in law enforcement face, even in the most routine of circumstances. On a seemingly ordinary day, as he responded to a tactical call at the Lawrence Correctional Center, tragedy struck in the form of a devastating vehicle collision on St. Marie Road in Olney.
The heavy fog that enveloped the area compounded the already challenging conditions of the road, leading to a collision as Sergeant Faught attempted to pass another vehicle. In an instant, a dedicated public servant was taken from us, leaving behind a void in the hearts of his family, colleagues, and community.
Sergeant Faught's commitment to his duty as a member of the Tactical Response Team exemplifies the selflessness and bravery that define those who serve in corrections. Day in and day out, he put his own safety on the line to ensure the security of his fellow officers and the inmates under his care.
As we reflect on Sergeant Faught's life and service, we are reminded not only of the risks inherent in law enforcement but also of the profound impact that one individual can have on those around them. His dedication to duty, his integrity, and his unwavering commitment to serving others will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In the wake of this tragic loss, let us come together to honor Correctional Sergeant Andrew John Faught's memory and support his loved ones during this difficult time. May his legacy serve as a beacon of inspiration for all who follow in his footsteps, reminding us to cherish each moment and to live our lives with courage, compassion, and dedication to serving others.

We have been friends and co-workers for years. The world is a lesser place without you. I will cherish the conversations and memories we had together. I don't know when I will see you, sooner or later, but we will see each other again. Until then, I know you're still serving and guarding the gates. Gone too soon, never forgotten.

Sergeant Faught, a corrections officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your years of commitment to law enforcement service, to your family, and to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
