Heavenly Father, You are Compassionate and Merciful. None of America's Peace Officers ever leave home without the fear of not returning at the end of their watch. It is a fear that is lived with daily. Unfortunately, the worst does sometime come to pass, and lives are left shattered. Lord God, bless and keep the hearts and souls of those who have lost loved ones in the Line-of-Duty. Wipe away the tears from their eyes. Soothe their pain and bind up their wounds through the wounds of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His mighty and holy name, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God." [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

In the wake of tragedy, we find ourselves reflecting not only on the life lost but also on the impact that life had on others. Special Agent Derek Sean Baer, a dedicated servant of the United States Postal Service - Office of Inspector General, leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, dedication, and service.
Agent Baer's journey of service began with his tenure in the United States Coast Guard, where he undoubtedly honed the values of honor, duty, and commitment. Transitioning from military service to federal law enforcement, he brought with him a wealth of experience and a steadfast resolve to uphold justice and protect his community.
However, it was on April 9, 2024, that his journey of service was tragically cut short. A sudden and senseless accident claimed not only his life but also that of another. It serves as a sobering reminder of the risks faced by those who dedicate themselves to protecting others.
Agent Baer's impact, though, extends far beyond his years of service. He leaves behind a loving family, who now must navigate a world forever changed by his absence. His wife and children, left to carry on his legacy, are a testament to the strength and resilience that defined Agent Baer's character.
In the midst of grief, we find solace in the memories of Agent Baer. His unwavering dedication, his commitment to duty, and his willingness to sacrifice for the greater good serve as an inspiration to us all. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
As we honor the life and service of Special Agent Derek Sean Baer, let us also reaffirm our commitment to supporting those who continue to serve and protect our communities. In doing so, we ensure that Agent Baer's legacy endures, a beacon of light in the darkness, guiding us forward with courage and resolve.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Sean was an amazing agent, but what stands out most for me is how much he loved his family. His commitment to his career was only surpassed by his commitment as a father, husband, and son. He made an indelible impact on the people who had the privilege to serve with him. Rest in peace, Sean.
