Reflections for Patrolman Justin Hare
Rest in peace, brother. I know we hadn't talked since we were in school together, playing on basketball teams. I never got the honor to work with you, but you were a great man and a great officer. Your presence will be missed, and there is now a hole in everyone's heart who knew you. God bless.

My brother rest in peace! I am glad to have shared all the laughs and triumphs with you throughout the beginning of my career with New Mexico State Police you showed me what it is to be patient and dedicated every time we worked together. I truly feel blessed to have shared my time and memories with you.
I remember the times we went to calls together and many welfare checks and public assists and seeing how you went out of your way every time to help people using your own tools, I will truly cherish all the memories we had together including the ones were we would go spend time together eating breakfast, lunch or dinner during our shift together .
I am glad to have shared a hug together before I went to a different assignment. Justin you went above and beyond and were a loving family man and dedicated State Police Officer I truly believe you were an angel sent from heaven to make an impact on all of our lives! Thank you conejo

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

We know from the Holy Scriptures that Peace Officers have a sacred task to enforce the laws of the land to protect the innocent and punish the guilty:
"For the policeman [Peace Officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him [her]. So, if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [Peace Officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [she] will have you punished. He [She] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13: 3-5 TLB]

When I looked at this story I realise this could have been anybody who wears the badge, who answers the calls for service or just simply in this case a welfare check. I feel deep sadness for the family’s of both first responders killed on and off duty and I wish and hope they can recover from this kind of horrific situation. Sending warm prayers to the agency and the family’s

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
