Please join me giving our thoughts and prayers with the immediate family of Sergeant Philip Dale Nix and the extended law enforcement family of the Greensboro Police Department, North Carolina.
End of Watch Saturday, December 30, 2023.
Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

As a retired NYPD officer who was shot January 19th 1973 and by the grace of God survived, I offer my condolences and deeply feel the suffering and loss this family is going through. My heart goes out to Sergeant Nix's family, the Greensboro PD and every single policeman who risks their life every day whether on or off duty. While reading the story of this robbery and murder of this policeman, my wife asked if I were the person in the store while it was being robbed, would I have done the same thing as Sergeant Nix. Without hesitation I immediately answered "absolutely yes". I'm now 82, have a CCP.
God Bless Sergeant Nix's family and every police officer. May he rest in peace.

Dale Nix was a great detective and an even better man. His positivity, despite the type of crimes he investigated was a testament to his ability to remain genuinely himself in a profession that often reshapes our our views of the world. As Sergeant Nix, you were always helpful and eager to serve. It has been an honor to serve at an agency that you greatly impacted. As Dale, you were always a smile, a handshake and a reminder that life is precious and should be appreciated. Thank you Dale! YOU will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.

Sergeant Nix, a police officer should be remembered not by how he died but by how he lived! A brave man has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 23 years of law enforcement service, to your family, and to the Greensboro Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
