Stephen was far and away the best Deputy and person anyone could have ever met, he was kind and courteous to everyone and showed concern for everyone including offenders he dealt with. I owed Stephen a debt I can never repay, he went to a call involving one of my kids, a situation, that could have been a justified use of deadly force ending my son's life, Stephen did not go that route he got to the call took command and changed the whole outcome of that situation, not many in my experience could have or would have deescalated the call the way Stephen did and had the outcome Stephen got. He would have done it for anyone, this was something I thought a day would come where I could pay Stephen back but now that day will never come, all I can do not is pray for a real hero and try to help his family cope with their loss as he and his family would do if it had been me.
