Reflections for Sergeant Stephen Gibson

Stephen

It has taken me awhile to write this to you. You were one of the best true friends I have ever had in my life. I really look up to you as a fellow peace officer, husband, father, grandfather and fellow brother in Christ. Your passing left a real void in my life that I will never get back. I think about us having coffee everyday and just sitting around talking about work, home life, off duty work and many other things. I miss you everyday bud. I think about you all the time. I know you are an angel and watching over your men and woman at the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office. Love you Stephen. Till we meet again. God Bless

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

Sgt. Stephen Gibson, My great friend, my Brother, a great Husband, Father, Grandfather, and service to his community for over 26 years. Every time I want to say something, tears start flowing. You were a great inspiration not only to me but everyone who not only knew you but worked with you. I've had the please and even more Honor to not only work side by side with you but to call you a great friend and mentor. Every time Stephen and I saw each other, we gave each other a hug and said we love you brother to each other. I thank God he put you in my life and I will truly miss my great friend. There is a void in my broken heart that I don't think will ever mend. Until we meet again, I love you Brother and we will hold the line from here.

Stephen Gibson…. for those who knew him understand how much he impacted our lives. From being an outstanding father/husband to being the cop, cops want to be. I have so much to say but don’t have the words. I worked along side Stephen for the last decade at Somervell Co. Sheriff’s Office and more intimately the last 4 years. I am going to miss seeing and hearing him on a daily basis, his laugh, his sayings, his friendship. Being on the range, him qualifying me and me qualifying him. ALWAYS positive and supportive giving atta-boys all the time. I call him my brother… I really don’t know how we are going to move on without you, but you’re going to make it happen. Rest easy my friend, we have it from here. 403/1042…. 10-42 EOW. See you barefoot on the gun range in the sky!
