I remember the incident very well I was living in Atkinson, Nebr at the time and remember
they were looking for a Kaiser car at the time and it was the person that shot him as they
sat in Chets Patrol car, The shooter went to Nebraska Prison for life.

My dear Grandpa Chet! So sad that I lost you when I was 5 years old. My other brothers and sister really have no memory of you but trust that you were an inspiration to us all.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 60th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace

Some of my most cherished childhood memories are of Grandpa Chet. Sitting on his knee and letting me move the cribbage pegs, the "locking the door" game we played, and his big smile. Only two of his thirteen grandchildren have any memory of him. I am proud to share those memories with my cousins. I am especially proud of Grandpa Chet, not just because he was my Grandpa but what he meant to the people of O'Neill and Holt County.

My only memory of you that’s my own is touching your name on the National Law Enforcement Memorial. You’re still remembered, respected and loved...by those who knew you and those of us who wish we had the honor of having you in our lives. I’m proud to be your granddaughter.
