Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Marylin Anjanette Mayo

Heavenly Father, You are Compassionate and Merciful. None of America’s Peace Officers leave home without the fear of not returning at the end of their watch. It is a fear that is lived daily. Unfortunately, the worst does sometimes come to pass, and lives are left shattered. Lord God, bless and keep the hearts and souls of those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. Wipe away the tears from their eyes. Soothe their pain and bind up their emotional wounds through the wounds of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His name, I pray. Amen.

Scripture on Law Enforcement Officers:

“So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:2-5 TLB]

Deputy Mayo,

I'm so sorry for to have heard of your passing, and I'm sorry for the loss of your fiancé in 2007. I can't fathom what you must have endured for so long a period of time. I pray you will finally rest in peace. I will pray for your family, friends, loved ones, and your former colleagues.

Deputy Mayo, a police officer should be remembered not by how she died but by how she lived! A brave woman has secured a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your law enforcement service, to your family, and to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Sister!

Rest in Peace sister and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
