I worked and personally knew Sgto. Maldonado and he was a great coworker and excellent human being. He was always in a positive mood and always gave a lending hand to anyone who needed his help. He always kept in touch with his peers and answered his phone, no matter the time. My condolences to his wife Lizzy and his son, may the Lord fill them with strength and peace so they may endure this pain. His loss has hit hard in the PRPD, friends and family, he will be missed dearly by many.

I'm so saddened to hear of your passing while on your way to work. You cared enough to stop to rescue a precious, vulnerable kitten. That last act of your life reflects the kind of person you were. I've no doubt you had the respect and admiration of your family, friends, colleagues and loved ones. I will pray for your wife and child, as well as all the others whose lives you have impacted in your lifetime. You definitely have my respect. Rest in peace.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Sgt Maldonado-Garcia, what a selfless act of humanity. The heart you had my brother must have been larger than life and I only pray that you did not suffer much. Thank you for your 37 years of faithful service to my beloved Puerto Rican citizens, my island at heart. May God comfort your family during this most difficult time. You went off to work just prior to this incident, kissing your spouse and children goodnight, not fully knowing if you would return home, and you have done so for 37 long years. God bless you.
